This trouble relats to a Nortel CICS (8x 16) with Callpilot 100 s.w level 7.0 . The moh plays through the handset when the feature86 for background music is activated if you pick up the handset the music moves to the handset when you put the handset on cradle again the music is off , but if you pick up handset the music is stil playing on it ? .. I have changed out the cable (amphenol), the KSU, and the soft ware (6.1). Not realizing that the KSU cannot initialize if a higher level of s.w. was installed (originally) The only thing I've not done is change the C.O cards ??? Can this effect the Moh. Does anyone have any answers??? Has any one heard if the s.w could be corrupt to cause this!!

Never herd of the MOH playing thru the hand set and not the speaker.Your saying that when you pick up the hand set the music moves from the speaker to the handset were the music should stop.Is the handset pluged into the handset jack and not the headset jack.

Have you just tried feature #86 at that station?

Thanks for replying , no the handset is not plugged into the headset port! I'll expand on this . So the bgm is activated through feature code ,I pick up h/s music moves from desk set to h/s (with out any thing being done at this point)ie: line selection or int. button , hanging up the h/s no music is heard to have the bgm resume I first must cancel the feat.86 then turn on and it works again? If i first choose line (having dial tone) and hang up the feature works as normal bgm turns back on!Any more ideas I've been installing for 18yrs. have never come across this...Could this be Co card?

I thought maybe you had no prime line assigned to the extension which is why music moved to the handset. We have a BCM and I programmed my phone for no prime line, but when I go off hook the music stays on the speaker until I select a line. Back to the drawing board.

Is it just this phone? Have you tryed another port.Has set relocation been involved?

YES!
YES!
YES!

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one that has these kinds of things happen.

The very first 6.1 CICS I did had the same thing happen.
It only did it on one phone, which I swapped out with no results. I think it was a T7316 or T7316E.

I finally replaced the Music (F86) button with something else.

In have tried ths on a Norstar and a BCM and it works the way you are describing it works on your 7.1.I noticed that if there is no prime for the set. (line,pool,I/C)It is set for NONE you will get the music in the hand set when you pick up the reciver. To put it back to the speaker press release. This is normal.
