I have a IP office manager version 9.1.7 build 163. I am trying to setup twinning with cell phones and it is not working. To start some of the phones say feature denied when I go to the twinning option on the phone. Some do allow me to configure it. But even when I put in all the correct info it does not work.
I have even tried to configure it within the manager and still unable to get it to work. All it does is act normal.

When I did configure one where the feature does not say denied and I call that line while looking at the phone it does show the number that I set to twin with but still just rings then goes to the phones voicemail.

At the moment I don't have any phones available that do not say feature denied. So to start does anyone know where there might be a setting that

The ones that do say feature denied I have looked at the use settings and extension settings within the manager and compare one that is not denied and I am not able to find any reason why this would be.

It would be nice to have both so it could act as a cordless phone. Say the factor manager is not always in his office. So when he is out on the floor he could still answer from his cell phone.

Update
I just tested it on one it does work on. I called the ex 4074 "4074 is setup in mobility to forward to my cell phone" and it did twinn. So with this phone it is now twinning from internal and external calls.

At the same time ex 4065 will not work at all. All the user settings in user tab and mobility tab are the same.

I just tried to setup a third one and that wont work either. So out of 3 only one works

inhibit of switch Forward / Transfer is checked but like I said it is working on one. Could it cause any problems to uncheck it?
I just unchecked it and still not working!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure the phone is using twining and not call forward no answer.

Watch the call using SSA. You will see it picking up the second line to dial out.

It needs Digital lines to work.
It needs a FREE line to dial out..if they are all busy then the call can't get out.

To be honest there is not much to setting it up..

It is definitely twinning. Both desk phone and cell phone ringing. I agree there is not much at all to setup. That why I am confused why it would work on one but not all. I will be back Monday to watch SSA. Will update more then.

Check the delay timer, it should be 2.
There is a bug sometimes where it changes to 2000.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I would bet this is an outbound caller ID issue. The phone system is trying to send the inbound caller ID number out the twinned call. Your carrier isn’t allowing it. You can prove this by just dialing the extension internally. If they all work internally, this is your problem.

I’ve tried internal and Extertal. Also to different cell phone carriers. AT&T and Verizon Same results with both. But when I hook them up to one phone they do work but when I try to twinne from other phones it does not work. I have only been able to get that whining to work from one phone trying internal and external

I will be back on Monday to do more troubleshooting.

I think we have tried enough here to help you, it is time to call a certified reseller.

Ok

This is the first time I have ever had a forum say don't want to help anymore we give up go elsewhere. I have seen and participated in threads that have gone on for many weeks. I have been doing this for many years and always provided any help I can to the end. I guess I am one who likes to troubleshoot problems. It is also a learning process of troubleshooting itself. None knows everything but learning how to find the answer or ideas on how to get their is fun.

Thank you all for you ideas.

You might wanna do a Monitor trace since that would tell you right away why it isn't working.

Regarding your thought on what forums are for, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I think most technical forums expects you to have knowledge about the topic you're asking about.
What you need to remember is that most of the people answering questions are the "expensive tech" you didn't wanna pay to help you.
Also considering this thread is at day 5 you most likely spent more $ in company time than it would cost to get a tech on site who most likely will solve it in under an hour.
Now if you don't have other things to do at work that's fine, but most often people think they save money since they don't value their own time.

Again Thanks

Same goes for you opinion.

This is something that is not urgent and someone just asks if it was possible but don’t worry if it cost a lot. So something I have been looking into when I had time. Probably less than an hour trying the different suggestions. Also as you say it might save money having someone else look into it well how I see it is learning now can save so in the future not having to call other help over and over. Rather than having the knowledge myself. So in time it could actually save money.
I do have some knowledge. This should be a very simple thing to set up but for some reason is not working like it should. If people are busy and do not want to help they don’t need to reply. Again like I said I like to do troubleshooting for experience and also nice to learn at the same time. If people are too busy and don’t want to answer or help no problem they don’t need to. But at the same time somebody saying we don’t want to help anymore go away. That is fine I can find help in other places. I have not been asking questions over and over just replying to suggestions that were asked to me with answers how that has worked. I’m not trying to be rude or anything just voicing my opinion.

Again thank you everybody for your help

The point is that your problem needs a good tech onsite who can try, change and investigate the issue.

Nice that you got the issue solved, but not giving the answer is not really punishing anyone who replied.
It's more likely needed by someone who hasn't answered in this thread so don't know why you're trying to make a statement =)

Just another thought..
The user that it works on look at the User inhibit of switch transfer ..see if it's unchecked..t
Then look at the users that don't work and see if it's the same..

I forgot this is in 2 places.
System level
User level.

This would prevent the call transfering externally..

Process of ellimation.

I am now able to get it working on phones at the main location. But we have a VPN tunnel setup to the factory but it will not work their. I will watch the details to figure out where it is being blocked. Still strange cause even at the factory when I call the phone and while it is ringing the status does say "mobile twinning ***-***-****" during the call but still does not ring on the mobile phone. Must be something over the vpn blocking the call out. Not sure

But I do appreciate all of your input. It has been fun.

Snowman I tried you suggestions but did not work. All the user settings are the same for the one that works and for the others that don't. There is one difference under source numbers then one that works says V4069 and the others that don't work say Enable_OTT. "I will research what that is for. Besides that The only different factor is the VPN tunnel. appreciate your input.

If your factory phones are connected the main IP Office the VPN can't interfere since the twinning would be handled on the control unit.

Enable_OTT is to enable "One Touch Transfer", that might be messing with twinning.
All users normally have V<extn> since that allows them to listen to their voicemail without PIN.

Hey Joeny0706,

Louis (Telecom Technician) here from Northland Communications. Sorry to hear that we were not able to help you out. This is not how we operate normally. Could you provide me with your contact information/company name, if possible? We would like to find out who you dealt with over at Northland Communications and prevent something like this from happening in the future.

Thanks

Hi lleenc

Thank You¡¡. Northland tried to help but was unable to over the phone. They were nice so I don’t want anyone get in trouble. It is just that I do not want to pay to have a tech come so I will try and figure it out on my own. My company would not approve that and as I said it is nothing of importance so we will wait for now as I troubleshoot it.
I already had northland try and help setup a SIP device. I chose to get help over the phone rather than have someone come on site due to cost. But the person they scheduled me with was unable to figure it out and they said they needed to come on site and order to fix it. I did figure it out on my own but at the same time Northland has been nice.
I am in upstate ny.

Joe,

Understandable. Well, if you require assistance with anything in the future, shoot me a message and I'll try to help you out as best as I can.

Cheers :)

I still can only get one phone to twin. If you have any ideas?

Could you provide me with the name of the company you work for please? This way I can access your account with Northland Communications and see what we are dealing with here.
