We have a spare MXE III with RTC, SATA Raid, etc that our local county government ordered in case of hardware failure.

I am wondering if there were a scenario where the MXE III failed, could I just swap HDDs from one cabinet to another and have it come up and work, or does the Mitel software care what environment it lives in?

Licensing is via the iButton installed in the controller. This give the sytem id as well as the real time clock feature

OK, thanks heaps...I retired from our local ILEC/Mitel partner a few years ago, and I was asked to come help my local county government to take care of their Hi-Availability system (among other things) and I have forgotten a whole bunch since I configured and installed my last MiVB five years ago.
