And my problem is how to make the IP phones boot once the DHCP server gives them a lease. They are on VLAN 20 and the phone will boot up, then get a lease and say VLAN 20 PRI 1 1, and then reboot and just sit there.

If I remove the vlan from my dhcp scope it works fine.

If I manually tell the phone it is VLAN 20 it will boot and get the rest of its info via dhcp.

What am I missing to make the phone go to the server once it gets its vlan tag?

I am using the ICP as the DHCP server. I have option 125 in the options, and in the range options.

First thing that jumps out at me is the Priority should be 6 (not 1)

The next is the likelyhood that you're programming in hex on the DHCP instead of decimal.

does it display as 0x20 or 0x14 (0x14 would be correct)

What network switches are you using? Have they got LLDP in them, if so use this to tell the phones they are on Vlan20.

As has been suggested you can let the layer 2 tell the phones the VLAN ID through LLDP or CDP. It looks like you are set to use the double fetch method which requires using Option 125 in the server. You have to be careful to type in everything correctly ( including ). Had a 3300 site where could get the phones to come up and it was a typo on my part.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

The customer has cisco switches. I will tell the IT guy what I need. I do have option 125 in the range with all the options filled out inside of it.

Again, make absolutely sure that the vlan info is input in hex

14 not 20
