We have a Mitel SX-200 system. currently when someone calls our main line, if it doesn't answer within a certain amount of time it rolls to a recording. I want to change or remove that recording. How do I go about doing this? I inherited this system, so I don't know extension numbers or anything so would need to know how to find that out also.

I have been trying to use putty with a serial cable connected to the maintenance port on the SX-200 MX Controller box. Let me know if that is right also.

Thanks everyone for your help!!

You need to use a vt100 terminal emulation like Procom or HyperTerminal connected to the maint port. I believe that option 705 is enabled in the class of service for the console and trunks This is attendant automatic overflow. You may also be using attendant call forwarding in which it is forwarding to the night 1 location in form 14.

any vt100 emulation (putty included) will work on the maintenance port

If the message is simply an "All Agents Are Busy please Hold" message then you will need to locate the source of the recording to change it or remove the programming that activates it. This is not something that I can guess.

If the message is a voicemail type auto-attendant, then things change a fair bit as to how to change or remove the message.

I finally got in... Kind of. I was able to log in using the username of supervisor. But any time I try to access a form it says that form can not be accessed. Does the supervisor not have access to any forms? any way of getting the installer password?

You will likely need a minimum of Maint1 access for any useful access

Mitel will reset a passcode for a fee and proof of ownership

I was able to login as installer. found the password.

but not sure where to go from here. I have a tech scheduled to come out this afternoon just incase. But would like to get it on my own if possible.

Check form 19 first and see if there is a value set for UCD/Attendant Recording for this tenant.

If yes, dial the number from a phone and see if the recording you hear is the one you wish to change

From there go to form 35 and see what type of device that number is

if it is a hunt group make note of which one and then go to form 17 and make note of the members of that hunt group

Now find the members in form 9 (or the single extension if it was not a hunt group)

if the stations are voicemail ports we can cross that bridge when we come to it

if the station is an analog port you will need to go to the MDF and trace the jumpering to the device.

So, do you want to turn it off or change it?

Turning it off takes seconds

Changing it might take more than a few minutes

Removing it is a simple as removing the option in form 19

Changing it requires finding out what RAD greeting is assigned to the specific port and then changing that RAD greeting via the admin mailbox

OH ok. so in 19 just delete the number associated with the UCD/attendant greeting?

Yup, no where to go, nothing happens

You could also set the port in DND from the console

I got it deleted. Now, how do I find out where the recording is. I can log into the admin mailbox. I choose 4 (message options) and choose 1 for system primary message. But that message is not the one we want to change. When I pick an alternate greeting 2-8 it just prompts me to record one.

It is not in the primary greeting set (option 4)

You could try guessing what RAD greeting it is under option 8 in the admin mailbox. Most likely it is 1 or 2.

Otherwise you could determine exactly what greeting it is by:
[ul]
[li]First you need to know the exact port that is being used.[/li]
[li]Then via the admin mailbox under option 5 you need to review the greetings assigned to each port and use the # key to skip to the specific port. This will return a number between 10 and ??[/li]
[li]Next in form 49 you need to review the RAD greeting setup for that Rad set. This will tell you the greeting(s) assigned to the rad set.[/li]
[li]With this in hand you go back to the admin mailbox under option 8 and change that greeting[/li]
[/ul]
