I've been thinking about collecting info from this group to provide to Mitel in the form of a wish list.

I am more than willing to moderate, edit, collate, and present the information collected.

My experience with the DCR process has not been good. Maybe if more voices we're added to the chorus, some changes might be possible.

Any takers?

sorry should have thought before posting and put them all together.
another big complaint when upgrading from a 200 to a 3300 is when a user has a multiple of themselves.
on the 200, the lowest one would flash on an incoming call, on the 3300, they all flash on an incoming call.
on small systems with no consoles, we are forced to use a hunt group of non-prime keys to emulate a key system to give the receptionist multiple answering points. Otherwise she has a heart attack when 20 seconds after we cut over to the new system, she sees "5 calls" ringing at once.
if we could use multiples of her prime, then she could call forward her phone to backup positions which would allow a visual indicator in a cfac key.

I also wish the permanant DND COS option would trigger the BLF indicator that usually indicates DND, then we could use a BLF of a phantom or ons station (with different COS for night) to indicate night mode.

few more thoughts:

screens like:
ARS Digits Dialed Assignment
should sort numerically (by 'digits dialed' in this case)
and not just list entries in order they were added, chronologically

a way to control SIP debugging, allowing you to decide whether to show debugs for: SIP devices, SIP trunks or both (the current situation)

a minor one:
often we manage the Mitel remotely (forward https through the firewall to it, and ideally, restrict access by source IP address for security).
However, the 'Import' feature, and uploading .wav files, kick off a Java applet (which I think uses FTP), which fails (as we only have port 443 open between us and the ICP).
How about using HTTP file uploads (which would work via 443) instead?

I know about the dts keys... they aren't useful for a company that has a 5 line rotary
I'd rather our sales sell the 200icp when they are dealing with a KSU type customer... even better would be a Toshiba, Panasonic, or Nortel KSUs because even the 200icp co line appearance if flawed... as soon as you transfer to the extension it renders them useless
But our company seems to be set on selling mostly Mitel now, so I have tell the customer... sorry you have to park the call now
"I never had to do it on my old system" is the usual response :p

lowradiation, I'm with you. I herad a comment that Mitel is primitive, useless, inconvinient and phones are looking outdated. When I asked what is the problem, the answer reffered to the guy's previous job...

The 3300 is a PBX... so with PRI, networking multiple systems together (a PBX customer) I find its very good, but I would like some KSU style functionality added for those KSU customers... and this thread is a 'wish list/pet peeve'

...and I work in a small market which has quite a few KSU customers

I'd like to add my name to distinctive ring tones for different lines up the keystrip (like the 200 ICP has) We've had numerous requests for that over the years.

Also a field-replaceable battery for the cordless handset (haven't had any fail yet, but I expect some pushback when the cust learns he has to buy a new handset)

Here is Edit #2

The response to this post is almost all 3300. For sanity reasons, I’d like to keep it that way.

We may start an SX-200 one later if there is demand.

Here is the first edit

High -Ability to setup an analog extension/ONS, with a pre-specified prefix, e.g. 9 for outside line (for say fax machines).

Med -A way to have a visual indication of day/night mode (e.g., you can have a call forwarding key which lights up when active, how about one for 'Night 1')

Med -Call screening on trunks. How to block calls from particular numbers. Calling party number based routing, handle calls coming from different area codes in different way.

New Med -Sub-attendant function.

Med – DID translation tables. Possibly the same form as Call screening. Have a form specific to DID translations. Configurable so that conflict dialing is avoided. SX-200 has this.

Med – Have an IP page option (multicast) - not using E2T resources – Same IP Phone limit of members as DNIC - 250

Low - Have IP page include overhead page (like on the 200icp)

Low - In the web interface, show more than 5 lines/phones/etc at a time, if there is space to do so

Low - Ability to display an extension's number on screen (on likes of 5312/5324, the 5330/5340 do it anyway).

Low - A way to be able to deassign the MAC address from the phone. Sometimes it would be nice to be able to return each phone to: USE Super key TO SEND PIN, from the phone.

Low - Web interface to work on other browsers/platforms (e.g. Mac+Safari)

Low - Currently, automatic switching from day/night, doesn't take into account weekends (so you need to manually handle this?)commentAs Mitel appears to be phasing out opsman, this may become more of an issue. It also doesn't address later closing times on specific days. Need something more like the Business hours for Voicemail.

New Low - distinctive ring for different keys on a phone

Unrated – Return large display phones like 5240 with easy interface. I have lots of complains on 5340 as overcomplicated. comment The market has spoken on the 5240, Mitel sold almost none. 5340 with self labeling keys is here to stay.

Unrated – Trunk and DN status in SNMP (Please point me to the right direction if I'm wrong)

Unrated - Access the configuration as a text file, export it, save it. And then, compare how it was on different dates/between systems. Being able to export the settings to one big text file would be good. Comment Export to csv is quite good as it is

Unrated - If parking multiple calls, on say a 5340, it would be good to show the caller's number beside each button (e.g. on the LCD screen)Fisher Need more description, parking calls on multiple keys?. Does Superkey provide the info?

Unrated - The call history application on the 5330/5340 (full screen), couldn't return calls, as it was missing the 9 prefix (and didn't pay attention to 'Outgoing external call prefix for apps' in 'System Options Assignment' Comment Sounds like a tech support question

Unrated - an option for call timer on phone display to run minutes: seconds not hours: minutes

Unrated - LCD based PKMs (e.g. 48 key) Self Labeling same as 5340

Unrated - DECT headset/handset for Consoles (Same as SX-200 for 5540 console)

Unrated - Call History key that records all calls ringing the phone (not just the prime DN)

Unrated - Call Park to grab lowest available orbit number (not go from 01 to 99)

Unrated - The ability to pickup a park recall from another phone (can do on 200icp)

New Unrated - For Multiple- Multicall appearances(of the same DN) on the same phone, only 1 should flash/ring at a time

New Unrated - a way to control SIP debugging, allowing you to decide whether to show debugs for: SIP devices, SIP trunks or both (the current situation)

New Unrated - A field-replaceable battery for the cordless handset

kwbMitel,
I agree with your list except for the scheduled day/night switching. I'd give that a higher priority.

Ralph

RossBC - I'm not understanding your request for a key to ring according to the Night Mode status. Can you try again?
What your asking for seems readily available by using Day night routing vs 1st alternative.

RossBC - The Automatic night service/Manual Day Service solution was originally conceived by M1Tel. He earned many stars that day. thread1329-1468400

RossBC - 16 BLF limit per phone DN. This limit is quite intentional by Mitel. Too hard to sell. If others pipe up I'll add it in.

Fissure - ARS Digits dialed does sort numerically. New items will add to the end but only until a data refresh.

Fissure - Not sure if this will help but for those sites that you access remotely, if you have a Teleworker server on site, you can configure PPTP access to the network that allows any function I have tried. this includes, Import, Export, Audio files.

Lowradiation - If you can't handle the "my old system did this" question by now, My old car didn't need unleaded gasoline is a good response.

If I've missed anything or anyone let me know. This post is quite busy.

I will bump day night to MED on the next edit.

I will also start a new post that links back to this one, this one is getting pretty long in the tooth.

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

what I meant is this
on small console-less systems, we often have the main number ring to a hunt populated with 4 or 5 non-prime extension numbers. we put these keys on the main answering phone(s). (we could use multiple appearances of the prime and send the calls there if they didn't all flash)
often we also put those same keys on a backup phone (delayed ring) and then 1st alternative is the voice mail auto-attendant.
when the customer wants that scenario for day mode and wants Night1 to ring directly to the backup phone (and no answer to voicemail) it gets a bit complicated. that backup phone then has to have one set of keys for delay ring in day mode and another set of keys for immed ring in Night1 mode.
the Toshiba has this feature, when you put a key on a phone, you designate its ringing pattern for each mode. It makes for very flexible configuring.

would be very interested in hearing how others deal with that request from a customer.

RossBC,

1 alternate key should be sufficient for night mode as the quantity of calls should be significantly less. What I have done is have the Night key on all phones (Max 32) programmed as a Key line for simple hold and pickup. Busy no answer routing to VM. The VM still integrates with the original DN.

The 3300 is designed to be capable of some pretty impressive size and networking capabilities. To expect it to simultaneously have the same feature set of a system that maxes out at 20 stations is not reasonable. Just try and imagine the testing required for 55,000 set system vs 20. It has always been the case that Small key systems have more features than PBX's.

Wish List Item:

Multi-record delete for User Configuration & Telephone Directory Assignment!

Lundah, The Tel Dir already allows range delete.

User config is probably an issue because of all the forms it ties into. (As opposed to forms that only modify 1 DB file) I suspect the User Config cannot be done and as such feel that it will be very low on the priority list.

How do you feel about the System Speedcall form. It could use a range delete in my opinion.

Hi everybody,

I'm just adding my voice to the list of issues already discussed. Many of them have been driving me nuts lately.

My only addition, and I hope I'm not repeating somebody here, is to do with the embedded v/mail Auto Attendant.

Dialing a digit to reach a directory number and the system playing the prompt 'You are being transfered to...'

Unless somebody here has found a way to remove this prompt, MITEL needs to do something about it.

I Have been told by tech support at TBS Melbourne that they have been told by MITEL that this is down as a design change. But I putting it here as well to make sure...

I think a few people on the forum have been looking for a way to play a RAD/recorded announcement, and then have the Mitel hang up on the caller.

(Without having to involve ACD un-necessarily)

So is that worth adding to the list....

StardataMitel: The embedded mail was never intended to be more than it is. A very basic and relatively cheap voicemail. I will add your request but it will be starting at Unranked unless someone bumps it up.

Fissure, a standard external rad where the call can terminate directly to the RAD will answer and hang up. For embedded mail RAD's where mitel requires that the ports be members of hunt groups, the call camps on instead. As this is a limitation of the VM RAD as opposed to the system, the same answer as I gave to StardataMitel, Unranked unless someone bumps it up.

Is there now a completed list of DCR's and how we want them prioritized?

Ralph

just like to add to a post by kwbmitel, the speedcall form could do with a range programming feature.
For example, got a DDI range that doesn't match the extension range, would be nice and easy to program, yes you could import, but range programming is still included on other forms.

Another little gripe is ACD agents being limited to 8 groups, be nice if that could be increased.

I've now worked on the 3 biggest platforms, Avaya, Cisco & Mitel. The biggest point for me that Mitel could improve on is the consistency in the forms. A few forms are just inconsistent on the way the buttons are placed. Like in the ACD forms, if you scroll down the Path Assignment options, the change member button also moves, so you have to scroll all the way back up the page to change it!
