We have a CX II 4.2 SP2 PR1 (10.2.2.16) and the very latest MiVoice server. We are looking at setting up the MiVoice as a SIP proxy to a SIP trunk service provided by Gamma in the UK. My first query is with the licenses. If we have a 10 port SIP trunk from Gamma, do I need 10 SIP trunk licenses on the MiVoice and 10 on the CX, or do I only need then on the Controller and we can ignore the MiVoice as it is just a proxy?

Usually we send SIP via a firewall, but it was felt better practice to use the MiVoice as a proxy on this implementation. Are there any "gotcha's" to look out for. I've programmed the CX II as I normally would with the addition of a network element for the MiVoice as a proxy, and setup the SIP details on the MiVoice (which passes the 5060 diagnostic test and shows a green tick under SIP trunk status)

Thanks

Are your controllers licensed as standalone or enterprise?

If enterprise, you can create IP trunking between the controllers without licensing.

If standalone, SIP licensing would be simplest. You would need 20 on the MiVoice and 10 on the CX-II for unblocked service.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

If it is a MiVoice border Gateway then yes you do need 10x sip trunking licenses for that as well

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

and due to an endless stream of MiCollab , MiCC issues
Life would be simpler If only they tested products properly before releasing them .....

Thanks for the response guys, this is nearly sorted now. The Sales person had ordered SIP licenses for the CX II and for the MiVoice Boarder Gateway, but with the latest Mitel site change over they couldn't be found. After adding the licenses to the CX II I now have inbound SIP, but outbound shows Access Denied on sets. So I'm just looking at the COR settings.

Access Denied? Make sure you have "Public Network Access via DPNSS" enabled on both Class of Services of Telephone and Trunk.

when restricted is displayed it is more likely to be a COR (Class of Restriction) issue, but Access Denied sounds more to be relates to Class of Service
