Hi All, we have a number of Mitel 5312 phones that I have re-programmed to use SIP. These phones are now working using sip but some of the key programming features are missing in the feature list through the web interface for the phone. (Speeddial+BLF)

Can anyone assist me in gaining access to a laster version of Mitel Communications Director installer.exe that is after Version 5.0 SP1?

Regards
Grahame

If you have software assurance and a Mitel On-Line account, you can download MCD 6.0 from the "Software Downloads" section of MOL. Be warned, though, MCD 6.0 has only been out for a couple of weeks, and if past history is any guide, it will be another month or two before some bugs are fixed in the first patch for this release.

Thanks Lundah, but I dont have software assurance as the Mitel System isnt mine. I do have a good relationship with the customer where the handsets came from, and they still have the 3300 Controller in a redundant office which is still in contract. With this in mind, is there a route i can take with mitel support to get access to MOL?

If the system doesn't have software assurance on it, you won't be able to upgrade to a newer release, even if you have the software.

You do lose features when you put the phone into SIP mode compared to Minet....I would imagine DDS/BLF would be one of them.

Why in the world would you set up Mitel phones on a 3300/MCD in SIP mode in the first place?

wireman50, thanks for the reply.

On a few site some people are claiming to have BLF working when the phone is in SIP mode, but they have a later version of the sip firmware installed on the phone than what i currently have access to which is R8.0.05.00.00.18.

Hi Lundah, The Mitel system 3300 is in a redundant office and the client is looking for a more mobile PBX solution, so I am repurposing the Mitel Handsets to work with a SIP PBX. Sorry for not mentioning this in my original post.

The MCD version doesnt have to be 6, i believe i may have seen mention of v5 sp2 being available?

Kind Regards
Grahame

Then surely the phone will only give the functions of the SIP PBX that are interop with the SIP in the Mitel? I am not that conversant with SIP and interop.....

Yes 5.0SP2 is available, it's on Mitel On-Line. Any authorized Mitel dealer should have access, as well as some end customers and I believe members of the Mitel Users Group.

Hi wireman50, you could be right, i really dont know as i am a noob to all of this. I have read that the PBX issues some sort of notify packet that the phone will listen for and update the BLF for that extension accordingly. I have found a mitel specification spreadsheet/manual for the mn_generic.cfg and there is a feature code 27 which is speeddial+BLF, but that option isnt displayed in the key programming section of the web interface.

Dont know if its cheeky to ask but i dont have access to MOL. I dont suppose you have an link to download MCD 5.0 SP2?

Kind Regards
Grahame
