Hello,

I have a weird one, I recently installed a New MXe with MCD 4.1, the site also went to a PRI (at NI2) after the install the customer tells me they cannot dial toll free numbers (they can call local and long distance no problem)

Whenever i dial any toll free number (1800, 1888, 1866 etc..) as soon as i finish dialing i get a fast busy and it says ERROR on the display

First i assume a protocol issue on the PRI, (there is not much ARS, every phone cant call 1900 numbers, all can call local and long distance) to prove that, i add an analog trunk and re route my ARS to that analog trunk, same thing

First i assume its ARS, i check my Digits dialed form, and i got a digit dialed entry for 91 with 10 to follow, going out my route built for my PRI trunks, all looks correct, so i build an dialed digit of a full 1800 number same thing, i tried to strip the digits and insert the entire 11 digit number in digit mod, same thing

so i think there might be a digit conflict, so i dial a long distance number that has an 801 area code goes through fine

I called the telco just to see what the system was outpulsing on the PRI, they do not see any of the channels go active when i call out, everything stays idle

my ARS looks right, it happens on POTS and PRI trunks, local and LD works, Im not using any CORs (i dont have any groups built)

What am i missing, is there a COS option that needs turned on to allow toll free calling or a System Option

Any Ideas?

If you set an EDT trace on your PRI trunk and you dial the toll free numbers is there anything happen in your trace?

if not it is possible an ARS problem.
Copy your digits dialed and your routes in this topic.

I will do a EDT trace when i get on site

but here is my ARS digits dialed

Digits Dialed Number of Digit Type Termination Number
9 7 Route 3
91 10 Route 3
911 0 Route 2
91900 7 Route 15
91976 7 Route 15
9911 0 Route 1

Route 1 and 2 are Emergency flagged
Routes 1 - 3 use the PRI,
Route 15set to use a trunk group that doesnt exist

I did, and it reads

DGT Trace started:
918004444444 : ARS 91 + 10, ARS 91 + 10, Route (3)
DGT Trace completed.

Try to remove 91 in your dialed digits
Change dialed digit 9 number of digits to folow to unknown.
I asume your digit modification for route 3 is absorb 1?

Check your interconnect restriction of your phones and pri trunks

You need to EDT trace. BTW have you configured default caller ID for your PRI? Sometimes telco will not force this and if your caller ID is blank, toll-free may not work. You still should be able to see the error in Q.931 messages

Ok i found out what the issue is

I needed to Enable Unknown TON/NP under ISDN protocol

i looked at the dchannel and it was not send the 1, just XXX-XXX-XXXX and apperenlty the LEC accepted that for LD but not toll free, changed that setting and all now works

PS i forgot to insert a tone plan in digit modification thats why it didnt work through the POTS lines
