Hi, somewhere I read that the 3300 can have its programming done via "work sheets".

Is this so?

If so would they be a .CSV file that is uploaded to the system?

I have been extracting buckets of info from the ole 200 for the VAR we are going work with and if I can save him a few steps that would be cool.

Thanks a bunch!

On some forms (Users and Device Configuration for example) if you choose the 'Import' option, you can download a blank worksheet with which you can enter the relevant information and then import into the form.

Right! So the PBX generates these for me? Ok I'll have to fire up the test machine here and see what it wants.

I can see this being a HUGE time saver.

Thanks again!!

There is an Excel Import spreadhseet that lets you generate the appropriate csv filess for importing.
NOTE - Make sure that you use the right version for the software level you want to import into.

This is from the online help

Obtaining the Import Spreadsheet
To import configuration data into a system database, it must be saved in . csv format. The Import Spreadsheet is designed to make it easy for you to collect and save the import data. Using the Import Spreadsheet, you can easily verify and save data in . csv format, simply by clicking the buttons provided.

To prepare data for import, you have two options:

Collect and save configuration data directly in the Import Spreadsheet
or

Save an existing spreadsheet of configuration data in . csv format.

If you wish to save an existing configuration file in .csv format, you do not need a copy of the Import Spreadsheet. See Preparing an Existing Spreadsheet for Import for more information.

Accessing the Spreadsheet
You can obtain a copy of the Import Spreadsheet from the System Administration Tool.

Notes:

You need Microsoft Excel® 97 (SR-2), Excel 2000 (SP 3), Excel 2003 (SP 2) or higher installed on your client station to read the Import Spreadsheet.

You need a archive application such as WinZip® installed on your client station to open the Import Spreadsheet form after downloading it.

To download the Import Spreadsheet from the System Admin Tool

From any form that supports Import. (See Overview of the Import Process for a list forms that do not support Import.)
Click Import.

From the Import dialog box, click download a copy of the Import Spreadsheet.

Click Save to save the .tar file to your PC.

Open the .tar file using WinZip.

Extract the .xls and .txt files using WinZip to the same directory, then launch the spreadsheet (.xls file) from that directory. This ensures that all columns are present in the spreadsheet. The columns correspond to the fields in the System Administration Tool forms and are derived from data contained in the .txt file.

CAUTION: You must extract both the .xls and .txt files to the same directory before opening the spreadsheet (.xls) file. Otherwise, you will not get the latest version of the spreadsheet.

Proceed to Collecting and Recording Data.

To download the Import Spreadsheet from the 3300 ICP Installation CD:

Navigate to the following file directory: Tools\ImportSpreadsheet
Proceed to Collecting and Recording Data.
