Mitel 3300 prefixing inbound number on ISDN 1

Hi guys,

We have just installed a secondary ISDN PRI line into our building, terminating on our 3300. While the ISDN line is from a different telco than our primary line, the settings are (in theory) exactly the same.

I have checked and confirmed via asterisk with a PRI card that the telco is only presenting 6 digits to us for the inbound DDI, however for some reason our 3300 is prefixing the inbound number with a "0", even though there is no form I can find where this would be the case. The original ISDN is also presenting 6 digits, and is working exactly as it should (i.e. nothing being prefixed). I have even tried setting it to absorb digits on the trunk settings, and it makes no difference.

So, does anyone know where this setting that is prefixing the "0" to the DDI might be hiding? I have been through all the setup forms and they are all identical in settings (with different descriptor ID's etc as required, but the descriptors are set identically).

Hope that makes sense!

If this is connected to an embedded T1/E1 unit then have a look in the 'inward dialling configuration' form there will be entries in here for prefixing incomming CLI. However this is a global setting for PRI so will effect your existing PRI. If you are only getting 6 digits of cli and your getting a 0 infront im guessing there is a 0 next to the subscriber feild then this could be what is causing the issue. Take it out and test, then test your primary PRI.

These are on embedded T1/E1 Resilient units.

I assume you mean the "Inward Dialling Prefixes" - which I have looked at. As you say, I would have expected this to affect both PRI lines. On the ISDN Protocol screen I have the "Enable Prefix Insertion" set to true on both links, and have tried disabling it as well, but it appears to make no difference at all. The original line still presents 6 digits, and the secondary (new) line presents 7 (with the 0 prefix).

I just can't see where this extra 0 is coming from ... and nothing I change seems to have any effect on the inbound number.

Look in the trunk attributes (4.1) Trunk Service Assignment form.

Normally you would have a Zero in the absorb digits field. I have a feeling someone put a zero in the insert digits field.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

I have found the issue I think.

The system for some reason doesn't seem to honour the "Enable Prefix Insertion" switch to disable the inward dialling prefixes on the ISDN settings. I removed the "Called Party Number Prefix Insertion" settings and the problem resolved itself. Somehow the system generated settings in the "ISDN Protocol" form point to an incorrect Digital Link Descriptor for our primary ISDN line, but the correct one for the Secondary - hence why it wasn't having any effect on the Primary ISDN at all ...

I am still a little perplexed as to why it's not honouring the "Enable Prefix Insertion" setting, but for the moment it seems to be working.
