Strange one, all phones connected to Mitel controller displays "contacting server". Reboot the Mitel and phones connect again. After about 10 min same issue. Logs shows phones disconnecting from Mitel.

- I've reloaded the latest code - same issue.
- Connect Mitel to stand alone switch with 2 phones connected to switch - same issue.
- Swopped the controller out and transfer HDD, RAID, DSP and PRI card to new controller - problem goes away.

I'm unable to replicate the issue on the old controller with a new HDD and cards. Replacement controller working fine with old HDD and cards. I took the controller back to the client and installed old HDD and cards again and get the same issue.

Could the LAN port be faulty?

If this is a first generation MXe then you have a hardware issue that requires replacement.

See this post thread1329-1730593

Mitel will repair it for a fee.

The last time I ran into this I wrote a script in Procomm to send the MIPs reset command every 800 seconds (period 900,mips_reset)

This allowed me the time to get a replacement controller in place.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Sounds suspiciously like the mystery MIPS problem. This affects the original MXe as well as both varities of the MXe-II (50005090 and 50006211, though I've had better luck with the 6211). Mitel told me the same chip is used in the MXe-III as well, but I have yet to have one of those tank on me.

I call it a mystery problem because they told me they were able to narrow down the problem to a specific chip on one of the units I sent them, the pulled the chip off, tested it (tested clean), put it back in and the controller came back up and no longer had the symptoms of failure. I know in every case I've seen it's triggered by the controller losing power (i.e., bring down a healthy controller to change out the UPS, it comes back up and dies).

Hi.
Dear Lundah , you mentioned that changing the chip please give me more information. which of them? did you see it?I faced with this problem recently ( 5 MXEII). please let me know what did they do?

The chip at the root of this problem is not field replaceable, you have to change out the controller chassis to fix this issue.
