We are new to the Mitel system, we have a Mitel 3300 CXI II Controller with the mitel 5320 & 5360 IP phones. We are trying to figure out how to configure alot of the system because our provider takes a week to get back to us. what we need help on is voicemail part of the voicemail is set up but we want to set up the voicemail so we can check voicemails from an external line to a certain extension. Can any one help?

What type of information? What is already configured?

The information you gave is rather sparse.

There are many ways you can get this to work, if you have an Auto Attendant, call the AA and dial ** to get you into you mailboxes from an outside line.
If you have mailboxes set up already, call your phone number, once you hear your message (your mailbox) press * and listen to the prompts.

It sounds like possibly all you are looking for is a DID dedicated to the VM. If so take the last number in the range and do a sys. spd. call pointing it to the VM pilot number. Now when you dial the DID VM will answer.

Is their any way that i can set it up where i press * and the extension & password, then takes me to voicemail. where when pressing * the system knows its a system User so its asks for an extension and password?

Can you please be more specific. Tell us what you want: I call in the main number and hear the Auto Attendant, by pressing the ** I can get to the system prompts that asks you to put in a voicemail box extension and the password. I need to gain access to this voicemail from the outside line.
PLEASE tell us specifically what you want.

I think what you are asking:
By pressing the * gets you into the system prompts.
The system doesn't know which mailbox you want to enter, so this is a generic message.
You HAVE to dial the mailbox and password, which is what you are asking.

yes, thank you. I am still trying to get a feel for Mitel systems so please bare with me, sorry if I'm not clear.

If I Enable the auto Attendant I would get to the voicemail box by pressing ** from an outside line to check our voicemails?

You have to either...

1: Programme a DDI that points to the voicemail DN (often 6000 but yours may be different) and when you ring that DDI it replies with a message. At this point you dial ** and the system asks you to input your voicemail box number and password and you are there.

2: or if the voicemail you wish to check has voicemail set and its set to answer then when it answers press * and it asks for the password etc. and you are there

3: if you enable AA the function is the same as 1 above when the AA answers.

You cannot just enable the Auto Attendant (AA), the AA is part of the voicemail that answers your calls with a "Thank you for calling ABC company, if you know the extension of the person you are looking for dial it now, otherwise press 1 for sales, press 2 for accounting, press 3 for marketing, press 4 ETC...
The AA needs to be created and programmed. THen it has to access the lines to answer those specific lines.

It will be easier for you to just leave the voicemail you already have intact.
Call into the office, and when the mailbox answers the call, press * then you'll hear a Voicemail prompt asking you to enter the mailbox number and password and you can access Any mailbox from here.

No programming involved, and you can access any active mailbox on your system.
