Hi I'm a PBX administrator new to Mitel, left on my own by inexperienced vendor/installer. [thumbsdown]

Could anybody point me to -if possible explain- how does the Caller ID on external incoming calls can be configured?.
That since vendor/installer was never able to activate such service in my PBX.

At the moment whenever an external call is received IP Phones shows the Speed Call Control number.

Any help is most appreciated [smile]

More than likely you have the COS option - Display DNIS digits before digit modification enabled.

kwbMitel,

I actually read your post on

Yet at the moment this is the behavior found my phones:

1) Phone displays LCD Speed Call Control ID ie. xxxx

2) Console displays:
Name= <Class Of Service Number Comment>
Number.
Notes
Device: External trunk 24
Line:0
Privileges: COS 1 COR:65

****** COS Settings Start *******

ANI/DNI/ISDN Number Delivery trunk: Yes
Display ANI/ISDN Calling Number Only: Yes
Display ANI/DNIS/ISDN Calling/Called Number:Yes
Display Caller ID on multicall/keylines: Yes
Display DNIS/Called number Before Digit modification: Yes
Display Dialed Digits during Outgoing Calls: Yes

****** COS Settings END *****

Classes with above settings

SysConf->Trunks->COS Assignment
#1 Carrier Lines
#2 IPPhones
#3 Consoles

I have different settings in:
SysConf->Devices->COS Assignment

I assume devices COS settings inherits from trunks settings(?)

Carrier vendor says Caller ID has been activated, what info should I be requesting from them in order to prove CallerID is set from carrier side?

I hope this clarifies a bit.

Thanks for the help

I assume devices COS settings inherits from trunks settings(?) No, COS for each device type is separate. COS assigned to trunks is for trunks only, stations for stations only, etc.

Carrier vendor says Caller ID has been activated, what info should I be requesting from them in order to prove CallerID is set from carrier side? You can use SMDR to see incoming caller id. Be sure SMDR external is Yes in trunk and station COS. In the SMDR form enable ANI/DNIS number delivery reporting & Report incoming calls. Then use the maintenance command <logs read smdr newest 100> and look for call detail with 2 lines of data. The second line will be the caller id(10 digit number) if it is being sent by the carrier.

SXWizard,

Thanks for the hint, ID is enabled by carrier vendor as shown in the result below xxxxxxx is the external incoming number

********* Log Start************
06/16 11:25A 0000:00:09 yyyy xxxxxxx A T12
zzzz
06/16 11:24A 0000:00:19 yyyy 002 8888 I 7777
06/16 11:24A 9999 xxxxxxx T11

********* Log End ************

After reviewing some forms I know that the string shown in phone LCD's -when external call is redirected by operator or other extension- is the Trunk Label. When called to a DID the number shown is the System Speed Call Assignment.

These are the settings:
SysConf->Trunks->*->*->Trunk Service Assignment

Note: Trunk Service Assignment settings are the same for every item under Trunks folder (Analog, Digital, IP Net, etc)

Trunk Service Number: 1
Release Link Trunk: No
Class of Service: 1
Class of Restriction: 65
Baud Rate: 9600
Intercept Number: 3
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Day:
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Night 1:
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Night 2:
Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb: 0
Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Insert:
Trunk Label: "E1 Carrier" <--- Label shown in phones

So it's definitely a settings issue. Any idea where to start from? (I'm RTFM'ing in the mean time) :)

Thank you for the help.

Hello All,

After reviewing all day long and reading the help. I can tell this is going on:

Display ANI/ISDN Calling Number Only: Yes
Result:
Trunk Service Label (found on SysConf->Trunks->ISDN-PRI)

Display ANI/ISDN Calling Number Only: No
Result:
System Speed Call Assignment

Display DNIS digits before digit modification option has no efect when enabled. And it shows some times "Invalid Combination".

I hope this is helpful, any help is appreciated.

Here is an example of an incoming call with caller id. This does not look like yor example so I am not sure if the carrier is sending you caller id:

06/17 10:42 0000:08:13 T1105 003 5182 5182
71450xxxxx 5182
This call came in on trunk 1105, rang for 3 seconds and was answered by extension 5182. Incoming caller id was 71450xxxxx.

Here is an incoming call with no caller id:

06/17 10:36 0000:04:19 T1103 004 5188 1188
5188
See the difference?

I am having my own problems with caller ID.
But I can tell you a couple of the settings.
Display Caller ID on multicall/keylines: Yes Should be
set to no. I know that is counterintuitive but that setting is for Digital stations so if you are not using Sx200
or whatever sets, turn it off. I think you will get Caller id the next call.
Display ANI/DNIS/ISDN Calling/Called Number:Yes this is the setting that causes you to see the speed call number.
the speed call is the called number.
I can see (I think) why when you set Display ANI/ISDN Calling Number Only: No you would stop seeing the speed call
because you say show called number in one setting but then
say show number only the other.
I am new too my problem is I cannot get the system to display name and number only name so if any body knows or can post a working cos it would be appreciated.

I didn't realize. How old this post was when I started to reply but maybe my suggestions will help someone else
