I have 6 MCR's hangin off of an Opt 81c in my district. None of them have a terminal, so I would like to know how to configure the MMI port so I could hook it up to a laptop. If anyone has any info on this that would be great.

Thanks in advance

a mcr is a call arrangement, what type of carrier option are you using (card interface type).. i use a serial server 89 dollars, black box, to give a tty port an ip address, just like a printer, then i telnet to that ip to get to my term. if you know the card type i can get the cable numbers and software requirements johnP

They have the RMI card in them (Remote Mini-Carrier Remote Interface Card) with the Multi I/O cable. Also do you configure tty 0 on the mini-carrier, as of now I have no way to get into them locally, just coming in through the 81c.

Thanks for you help

@johnpoole

What type of serial server do you use? I found only ones which are much more expensive (>300 $).

You can tie a tty port to the first mini carrier remote and daisy change to the rest of the MCRs. Look in the NTP for MCR and it explains how to do it and what cables you will need.

my ss came from black box a couple of years back. don't use tty 0 or 1, grab any other vacant tty. and yes you can daisy chain it through your mini-remotes. for me, telnet was a faster option because i can access the switch from any pc on a 2000 acre complex.. i was going to install 472 dumd terminials but ran out of duct tape..
