have taken in a mics with 7.0 softgware. system never boots up. all sets just blink on lower display next to line buttons. have open software holder case and shorted battery. have power up and down the unit several times. pulled out all cards and booted up with just the software card in. any other sugestions. also can you pull out the software card with power off from another ksu and frog the software cards without loss of programing on the good ksu.

If you don't know what level of software was originally in this MICS, then you'll need to open up the MICS and short the memory cap on the motherboard. I'd advise bleeding off the voltage through a 100 ohm resistor to avoid possible damage to the MICS.

what does the cap in the software cartridge do. I shorted it to start with. this is a 032 mics I know the 824 ksu have cap on the mother board, but the o32 does too?

Yes. Main programming is stored on the motherboard on the MICS and CICS.

I have a system locked up the same way. Is the cap that you need to short out easy to spot when you take the cover off, how do you reconize it? is there any Schematics out there you can look at?

It usually has a black label around it. Should be labeled 1F 5.5V
