I have a MICS 4.1 with PRI attached to Startalk Flash VM. If I specify Pool 1 as the outdial for message notification it will not outdial. If I specify a line it will outdial for about a week then quit until a different line number is specified. There are no analog lines attached to the system, all PRI tunks are available for outdial by dialing 9-area code-number. Any Ideas why I cannot specify the pool? Or why it works for a short period of time when the line number is specified then quits?

Flash Voicemail must be upgraded to 2.0.10

6 months until ski season starts...sadly i must resign myself to the warmer weather"this will include a normal 8-5 work day, 5 days a week"

Did you put a 9 in the dial out for your number? Even though there are no Lines in Pool A you should be able to do it that way but you need to dial the Desti code for the PRI as part of your dial string.

Yes 9 or no 9 does not work with pool specified. If line is specified it will work with no 9.

WOAH there partner!

Not only will you have to upgrade the voice mail system, you'll also have to upgrade the telephone system to at least 6.1 or higher (might as well go for 7.1) with a release 2 NVRAM pack just to interface correctly with PRI!!!

This is a well known issue that has been discussed to death in this column over the last few years!

Once you do all that, the programming option you're looking for with regard to remote notification is "route" as opposed to "pool" or "line".

Oh yeah, I suppose I should ad:

Don't be at all surprised if you have all kinds of squirrelly little problems that seem totally unrelated to any PRI issues until you correct your glaring software mismatch!

curlycord brings ups a good point, use a pool that has nothing assigned to it. Even though you have a PRI by default all other lines are assigned to Pool A even though you don't have them connected. I know it does work because I've done it with a Flash and also a NAM. I just don't have either one anymore because of upgrades. good luck

Same problem when choosing Pool 2. No notification unless a line is picked and then it works for a couple days and then quits

You're still using the Desti code as part of your dial string correct?

Pretty sure you dont need it, but yes I've tried it with the 9 which is the destination code. I'm thinking the flash is too old. I have a NAM that I'm going to try instead. These systems have worked together for years when we had analog lines. Recently disconnected all the analogs leaving only the PRI.

Well, you may think I'm crazy but there's no point in doing any more trouble shooting until you correct the REAL problem here!

As I mentioned here in a previous post:

>>>> LOOK IT UP MAN!!! <<<<

I didn't dream this! I've seen it happen way too many times before! System may run fine for years before any real problems become evident and those problems may seem totally unrelated to any PRI software issues but they are!

Once you correct your software mismatch (with PRI), the programming option you're looking for with regard to remote notification is "route" as opposed to "pool" or "line".

phonehed I understand what your saying but I have got it to work on a NAM and a Flash by doing what we've talked about. Set it up to dial out using a Pool that has nothing assigned. Then in the dial string you put desti + number you want. But as you stated if you upgrade it all then it will work.

Again if its below the release i stated its going to be a problem.

hawks, I don't doubt that you can find a way around some of the issues caused by this particular software mismatch but that system will never be trouble free until the real problem is addressed and corrected.

Slapping a band aid on it isn't very good advice in my opinion.

The correct solution to this problem is a dual upgrade.
