Callers wanting to leave message receive this audible message from all mailboxes on system-

"no room for more messages"

I have checked:
1000 - gen del - 0 new 0 saved
1002 - sys mgr - 0 new 0 saved

Press REC soft key on either = display reads 'out of space'
Press soft key on any mailbox = display reads 'out of space'

Can one user mailbox max the system and cause 'out of space'?
Or can this be a symptom of trouble elsewhere?

I don't know where to look next-

Thank you very much for any help.

Yes, the problem lies in that if the call to the station is internal and the mailbox is full you will get a message saying that you can not leave a message do to that fact. But if the call is external the mailbox will keep on excepting message after message.
It's called mailbox never full

Ooops! Sorry, thought I was in Nortel

Is it OK to move/copy this post over to Nortel?

"No room for more messages" is the message outside callers hear

"Out of space" is the internal message displayed on LCD

It is difficult to believe that a system could allow itself to be shut down by one bloated box.

The facility manager tells me that this past winter he received outside calls stating that his box was full ad no messages could be left. The system was not down, only his mail box would not record messages until he deleted/made space.

This system is down and no messages can be recorded.
A memo is distributed in the morninng for all users to clean up mailboxes, I have a feeling this will not free up message recording.
One receptionist who has learned to manage mailboxes for users deleted a user name and mailbox assigned to a dismissed employee. The "Out of Space" condition seemed to begin about that time, ....coincidence?

That box seems to now not be associated/assigned with any extension.

Any other possibilities?

Thank you for any help/ideas

Nortel" is a manufacturer, but here at Tek-Tips, they have created forums for various models of system, because they have so little in common.

The Nortel Forums include:

If it were me, I would repost the question in forum799
