Our system, MICS 6.0, has been crashing when excessive call load hits. All active lives in group light up, freeze, go dead, then go into system startup. Could something be set up wrong? And one other question- how does one change the ringing service times?

How big is the system setup? if you have it maxed out it will be sluggish at times generaly due to lack of system resources.
I suggest upgrading to 6.1 but wait for others to make suggestions.

Ringing Service times can be changed under heading Service Modes, press show then next untill you see Schedules.

Curly,
Why do you suggest upgrading to 6.1? I have read on this forum that the NVRam is bigger and faster. Is this the case?

THE ONLY TIME I EVER SEE ANY NORSTAR GET SLUGGISH IS ON A LARGE SYSTEM AND A BIG PROGRAM CHANGE THAT GOES OUT TO ALL DNS AT THAT POINT WHEN YOU DIAL OUT THE SYSTEM WILL BE 4 TO 6 DIGIT BEHIND WHAT READS ON DISPLAY AND PAGING IS AFFECTED

Did you look in your logs for errors?
Do you have a lot of hex adress errors?

The system has only eight lines, each assigned to their own position. Two of the lines are one rollover group, three are another set, and three lines are independent. We're a radio station and have been running a big Christmas contest where people call in to win. The studio lines are the two rollover and single(for an 800). When a blast hits for a big prize, the line indicators freeze (no flash), then go blank, then several seconds later all the indicators come on just like from a reset.

You should get the power to your phone sytem checked - just to make sure.

It should be a DEDICATED 110 V AC ,15 A service with a third wire safety ground.

You may have too many devices on the same circuit as the phone system, causing it to go down.

I'VE SEEN THIS ON 5.0, THE CUSTOMER WAS A TELEMARKETING COMPANY THAT ADVERTISTED THERE PRODUCTS ON TV. AFTER THE COMMERICIAL HIT THEY WOULD GET A OVERLOAD OF CALLS. THE ERROR CODES POINTED TO DTMF REG, WE HAD TO CHANGE THE T1 TO ISDN-PRI SO SIGNALING WAS DONE THROUGH THE DCH. PROBLEM FIXED.
