As Rik noted many techs forget about the B2 DN assigned to all extensions. So even though all your extensions begin with 2, I'd bet all the B2 DNs begin with 3. That's a lot of renumbering which is why I suggested just using 9.
When I go into Terminals and Sets I don't see any extensions that start with 3. And I can't enter a set number that begins with a 3.
The really strange thing is I can't use any number besides an 8 or 9 as a line pool access code, everything else is just not accepted by the system.
I may be wrong but isn't the B2 DN an Option PBX feature? Never heard of that on a MICS, all the second line buttons are intercom keys as far as I can see on this system.
B channel DNs are always enabled and cannot be disabled. You never really know they are there. If you have a system with an expansion card and have expansion modules, then you may have B-channel DNs in the 3xx range. If you start at 221 and have 1 016 expansion mod, then your B channel range may go into the 3xx.
Unless you have multiple outbound routes that you need to use 3 for, probably best to stick with 9. If you have a 9 already, then use 8.
One thing you may consider and may clear your dialing plan, use 4 digit extensions. This will allow you to free up a few things.
If you go into Maintenance and check port/DN status and put in a working DN number, you will see the option to toggle to the B2 DN. That will tell you what the numbering is for your B2s.
Ok, thanks, I forgot about the Port DN status, it's been a while since I've done anything but minor programming on a MICS. I will check that out.
there is an expansion module, a 12x0, so that probably explains the DN's in the 3 range.
the thing is they have 2 lines pools already, so 8 nd 9 are used already. I know 7 is for hunt groups, but I should be able to use 5 or 6, yet that was denied as well. maybe there's a stray DN starting with those numbers I didn't see.
I'd rather not renumber extensions to 4 digits if possible. I guess if needed I can go to 2 digit line pool access codes.
Ok I found a bunch of DN's in the 3 range in Port/DN status so that's out. I also found 6 in there so that's out. 4 is used in conjunction with remote call forwarding so that's out. Only one left is 5. I found 1 DN, 555, that's not really used. I changed the DN number, but it still shows up in Port/DN status, and I can't use it as a line access code. Any ideas how to make this work?
Also check to see if 5 is used as the park code. If you don't use this feature just change it to "None" Then you should be able to use 5 as a pool code.
