Client has a Norstar MICS 7.1 that was upgraded (old main cabinet and peripherals) about 3 years ago. About 6 months ago, they reported system lagging. What happens is at times, when a call is answered, the line remains silent for 5-8 seconds before the caller on the other end of the line is there or can be heard. At times when you have someone on the line and try to transfer the call to another extension, there is a 5-8 second lag before you can put in the extension they want to transfer the caller to.

About a month ago the main cabinet, software, and fiber cards were replaced with others that was confirmed working (previous install at another location) and did not have this issue. Now they are experiencing the issue again? I am stumped on this one. Perhaps a bad Analog Station Module or Digital Station Module or DTI Card? Maybe a bad UPS?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Try a reboot, I had the same thing don't remember what release though

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS AND AVAYA

What release is the V-RAM? old V-RAM's don't have enough memory.

I had a client with the same problme and it turned out not to be the system but the phone company. It took them months are arguing with the telco until the telco found out that it was their problem. They had Cox Voice Manager.

Are these calls coming down a PRI ? Are they copper trunks? It may not be a Nortel issue at all.

currently have anorstar modular plus 4.1 that works fine. trying to upgrade to 7.1 but ksu wont load phones constantly flash ,replace again with 4.1 and it works. trying to upgrade to t7316e phones and caller id thanks steve

You need to go to DR6.1 first, then you can go to DR7.1.

If you don't care about saving programming you can do a STARTUP with the 4.1. When the display reads "Resetting" count to 5, pull the power cord, swap the software, and plug in power cord. Give it about 10 minutes to come up. If you have a PRI DON'T do this.
