I'm working on an MICS running 4.1 rel 01 WI6.00 with a PRI that is experiencing trunk out of service issues when dialing out and ghost calls when dialing in. I've read other posts that indicate this is a known issue with 4.1 rel 01.

My distributor has told me that 7.0 is buggy and suggested using 6.1 on another upgrade I did. Any comments?

If I do go to 6.1 is sounds like I can upgrade the NVRAM cartridge to version 2, plug the 4.1 back in. Then upgrade to 6.1 without having to reprogram, is this correct?

Will the enabler keys be affected?

Can I view/save them before upgrading?

Thanks,

Dave

do backup..replace nvram power up if all is good then i would do another backup then do the 6.1 upgrade..it only when u have a bad upgrade and have to go backwards do u lose pri code and no there is no place to view..if it goes in shitter make sure u have access to notel to get them back

Me neither.

Anybody heard of issues with 7.0?

I just did a job similar to what daveinfla describes, only mine started with version 4.05 in a rel1 NVRAM cartridge. I did the upgrade as he describes -- swap NVRAMs, plug in the old software, then plug in the new software -- and it worked fine -- I didn't have to use my backups at all. There were a few glitches -- all sets lost access to the PRI(A) linepool, and all lost their FNA settings, but no big deal. (There was one glitch that was actually a feature: the button layout on 7316Es changed to something rational.) Most important, the PRI enabler passwords remained intact.

My vendor also said that he's had more 7.0 cards come back than 6.1. So yes, I've heard of issues with 7.0.

Are you using all 23 channels?

If not, have you set "link status" to "near" on the channels that you are not using (also in maintenace heading). This must be done on a PRI circuit in addition to "de-provisioning" the un-used channels.
