We were upgrading an existing MICS 4.0 system to 6.1. The 6.1 manual states that a ver 2 NVRAM should be used for the 6.1. We had a new system on the bench that had been initalized and had some programing on it. We did a backup prior to starting (with NRU 11.0) and powered down the system and swapped the NVRAM and kept the 4.0 pcmcia. The unit powered up fine, and retained the programming. We then powered down and replaced the pcmcia 4.0 with the 6.1 and the system would not boot. Phones just kept flashing. Powered down and reinstalled 4.0 and powered up and had 4.0 without programming. Restored ver 4.0 back up and all was fine. Tried again to replace the 4.0 pcmcia with the 6.1 and still no go.

We got the system back to the 4.0 with the programming restored and tried replacing the pcmcia with a new one, one that had never been powered up in a system, and it worked fine. Still had the programming and all. Does anyone know why the system would not accept the pcmcia that had been in the 0x32 on the bench? Does the pcmcia marry to the system? If so is there anyway around this.

I have done this from 4.2 to 6.1 and it just took a 20-30 minute wait.

Upgrade to 6.1 with the release 1 sleeve.
Once the upgrade completes then replace the release 1 sleeve with the release 2.

I got the system up with the virgin 6.1 pcmcia. What I am trying to get is the pcmcia that had been in the system on the bench to where it will work in the existing system. Why will the virgin pcmcia work but the one that had been powered up on the bench, not work. It is like the one that was powered up on the bench unit is married to that system.

No they are not....Also after I used the virgin 6.1 in the system, I tried the 4.0 in the bench unit and it will not boot.

puzzled?????

Line sequencing changed from 4.0 to 6.1 and will not map correctly.

I know the line numbering changed, but that has nothing to do with the system not booting.

Once your at 6.1 the only way to go back to 4.0 is to Default the system. But if you go backwards then just be aware that the system ID will probably change so if you have any keycodes in the system they will not be any good anymore.

The issue is, that we went to upgrade the existing 4.0 with a 6.1 pcmcia that had been in a system on the bench working fine. It would not upgrade... it would just flash (for over an hour). We then tried a virgin 6.1 pcmcia (one that had never been in a system), and it worked fine. The first card we tried the upgrade with still works fine in the bench system...... There are no keycodes to worry about.

Try this
1) Bring it up with the 6.1 that works
2) Do a System Startup
3) When the phone display reads "Applying Template" remove power from the system.
4) Remove software and all hardware from system
5) Install the 6.1 that is not working and apply power.
6) Could take up to 20 min to come up.
7) Then you can power down and install hardware and power back up.
Note: This procedure will remove any programmed Data that you might have on the system. It will take it back to factory default
Good luck

What Hawks said but since 6.1 will not boot in this system you will not be able to perform startup.
Try the startup using the 4.0 software and unplug the power to default the system. Then install the 6.1 card.
