Mics 3.0 to 6.1

I have a nortel system with MICS 3.0 and have recently purchased a MICS 6.1 module. The system is not installed yet so i was just planning on taking out the mics 3.0 module and installing the 6.1 and start from scratch on all the programming. Will this work or is there something special that i need to do first? (I didn't want to get started on this until i was sure.)

Check the NVRAM cartridge. If it's not version 2, you'll probably want to get on upgrade on it too.

The NVRAM cartridge came with the 6.1. The MICS 3.0 cartridge is self contained and cannot be upgraded. curlycord, you mentioned about powering down when it says applying the template and swap software. I presume you meant to swap the entire NVRAM cartridges since you can't swap the software cards.

Curlycord, I followed your procedure for startup and the programming was very easy. What a difference between 3.0 and 6.1. However, I now have a problem with the Starflash 1.5 that is attached to it. I didn't change anything on the starflash and i believe i have the DN (230) programmed for the starflash, but i must be missing something. The starflash does not answer any lines and when i hit "F983" it says "inactive feature" so i can't even get into it. I figure there must be something else i need to do in 6.1 to make the starflash work with it.

I figured that out overnight. I've gone and ordered v2.1. With these systems, i guess there is no way to wire up a standard old answering machine since i don't have an analog adapter? I was hoping to at least be able to receive messages with something until the v2.1 card comes in.

I'm confused. You state that I can assign lines to ring at the ATA's DN but as I stated, I don't have an analog terminal adapter. Is there any way to use an analog device like an answer machine if I don't have an ATA?

Take the jumper from line 001 & terminate it to a jack as well as going to the system. Plug your analog answering machine into the jack.

Received the Startalk Flash 2.1 software today and swapped it in the startalk unit. I'm having a problem. i did initialise the programming back to defaults, then activated feature codes, then initial set-up configuration. I was able to set up some mailboxes. When i try to access the company greetings or the "AA" section, it says Not Allowed. (how rude).
I figure there is something in the set-up that i am missing. (MICS 6.1 running on the system)
