mics 0x32 w/fiber extender 4

0x32 is located in building A, w/2 cid, and a 6 port fiber card. port three connected via mck fiber extender to building B with fiber station module. port four connected with mck fiber extender to building C with fiber station module. different ports and different cards has been tried and the port that is attached to building C keeps going out during lightening storms. Always the port connected to building C. only thing connecting these buildings are non shielded fiber. grounding has been checked in both locations. Any hints to fix this solution.
 
how about the ground? the UPS or even surge protectors have to have somewhere to divert the excess electrons to.

So far I have not had the problem returned after changing to a line regulated UPS.

Talked with citel today, and they have informed me that the mck fiber extender is very sensitive to any power fluctuations, and the procedure to remedy is to remove power and reapply to allow proper synchronization. Should the minuteman 900 allow any loss? Contacting minuteman to find out. Just wanted to give an update. Thanks for all the help. I will post later when i speak with minuteman.
 
I had a problems with the extenders a couple years ago.

About once a month one set would kick out its station module. The other set was fine. Both going to the same building, same location.

Was always able to get them back up by rebooting the extenders as recommended. I even trained the cutomer, so that they would get back into service quickly.

After playing around for over a year, we replaced that set of extenders.

Worked fine ever since.
 
I've also had issues with bad fiber terminations. Any good installer will test his fiber and provide dB loss on all strands, but there a lot of bad fiber installers out there.

MCK's should run fine on anything under 12 dB loss. If the UPS doesn't fix your issue, I'd get someone out with a meter to check your glass.
