I'm hoping someone can answer this question, and I'm going to try to explain as simple as possible! Trying to update the Food Screen (main screen where you have options like Beverages/Entrees/Appetizers/Liquor/etc.) and I want to have the receipt show on the same screen. I know I can do that by going to "Touchscreens" and changing "Template" from TableObject to Detail2...

My question/issue is this... All of the templates take up too much space and I want to have buttons under where the receipt would be (like a next seat/clear last/etc)... Is there a way I can insert a button under TouchScreen Designer using the TableObject template and specify a specific size for the receipt using categories/functions as opposed to a specific layout?

There must be some way to do this because a Google Image search shows SEVERAL designs where the receipt is only in say the top-left corner of the screen and the bottom 75% of the screen has server buttons, so there has to be a way to resize the actual size of the receipt somewhere....

Any help would be much appreciated!

THANKS!

LOL! And yea, I do think the bartenders would hate you for that! Aloha has an option to require DOB, but we have it off. If they don't card, they get fired, but no reason to ask a regular EVERY time, especially when they come DAILY for 2-3 hours each day!

Yeah. Was a really weird (crazy!) request; but my point is the micros system is actually pretty flexible if you ignore what corporate says :p

lol I see where your going! I am a little bias; have used Aloha for years at several locations... Still kinda shocked we didn't put Aloha in here, but I am enjoying Micros.

Side Bar--- You ever hear of a company called Revel? The use iPads, its a start up, but really interesting. You should Google it if you haven't, its interesting (but we never moved forward with it).

To be honest most of the start-ups never seem to gain traction (I've been looking backwards a bit since I'm new to this business)... it would be interesting to see one gain traction of course, but I find myself looking forward to tenanting on Simphony and the M-Tablet. Plus having looked briefly at the Aloha 'grinder' I wasn't all too impressed; having never used the system though, I'm still keeping an open mind, and my opinion of it to myself, cause what the hell do I really know.

Micros is moving toward cloud computing (we host our bigger customers on Simphony - they have workstations on site that are designated for backup for offline mode, but other than that, no actual server on site). MyMicros has had some nice improvements, though they still have a ways to go with it; inMotion is pretty neat, but again, needs some work. Still, they seem to be moving forward, even if a glacier could outpace their speed sometimes.

That looks pretty sleek! Yea, I agree with you about the start ups, but you have to support the small biz trying something new and different! Price wise though, almost 50% of Micros/Aloha. It's interesting... I always tell new restaurants to slowly go into a POS that fits what they are doing... There was a Coffee Shop with maybe 20 seats looking to buy a 3700 system for almost $ 35,000 with KDS and all. (I showed him the E7, which "CRAZY" the corp sales guy never mentioned....)

Ugh. Yeah. I don't like sales people sometimes.... only thinking about their commission.

The issue I have with startups is that I've seen a lot of forum posts that follow:

"Help!!! I use X and Y has gone wrong! The company is gone so I can't get any help! Can someone help?!?!"
*crickets.... because no one uses it*

So.. yeah hahaha. If, god forbid, I ever own my own place, I would probably just use the various built in hacks I know to run a free copy of Micros (shhh... I didn't say that!!!!). But as I plan to never own a place, it doesn't really matter.

I really like e7 to be honest; it works pretty well as long as you don't go poking it too hard; it does a very basic set of functions but it does them pretty well. Granted, if you start getting into 7 terminals, despite e7 support that... well.. don't. Haha...

Yup, and I don't think E7 supports KDS, either?

Actually it does. Only by serial connection, but the kit comes with a reaaaallly long serial cable.

They also (finally) added support for ip printers though they have yet to start selling them as kits that way, so most people still but IDN... Grr.

Oh wow, never knew that! (Although that would be horrible with 6 terminals and 5 kitchen screens!) But, back to the original post, if you could somehow do a SIM for the force tip (before printing server report) that would be AMAZING. If you could also find a way to change background color, that is everything I need.

Thank you so much! II do think you should play with Aloha a little if you get a chance though! Their front end is very unique, but Micros' back end is soooooooooo much better!!!

Ah ah ah. I was just about the start scouring the database for the table, but was just challenged to a game of Rise of Nations :p I will let you know tomorrow if I find anything; have a go-live (for an e7 site incidentally) and because I'm the one who did the setup (I'm not bragging :p), nothing will go wrong, so I'll be doing a whole lot of nothing tomorrow.

If I can find the setting for background color, so much the better. Which background are we talking about anyway.. hehe. The blank space where no buttons are?

Yea, lots of windows, so the black is hard to see. White and light blue show up much better. Good luck on your game; I'm always up for SC2 and HALO (and Metal Gear, single player, non-RPG) and of course (old but still GREAT) Red Alert 2/3 and Command and Conquer!

And now I'm repairing MSXML errors for him.. joy. Lol.

I still haven't finished Heart of the Swarm >.<

But we've been playing Aion, Tera, Portal 2, and Diablo (bleh)... lol. He sucked me into MMORPS /sigh

lol! I have somehow avoiding them so far! Final Fantasy XIV may be the downfall, though!

Haha. Well.. at least I'm not playing world of warcraft anymore :p My days as a realm first heroic raider are a ways behind me now ;)

lol! Very true! Thank you for your help and enjoy your game!

I haven't gotten far with the SIM yet; I did find a stored procedure I'm going to use that has all the info I need in it, but I haven't started in on the SIM itself yet. In the meantime though, I thought you might enjoy taking a look at this:

The Theme Designer (which I have never used).

Thanks! I've been asking if that existed for a while now and always got a no! Question: When I run it, I get:

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

Do you have the installer?

Hmmm. Strange, I just open it without even extracting it form the ZIP and it runs perfect. I'm running it on my personal laptop (Windows 7, 64 bit Ultimate) without any problems. Which system did you try and open it on?
