I was recently given the task of setting up a POS system for a hotel's Bar. They have the Server (running Win 2000 Pro)and two workstations. They bought the system brand new, and when it quit working, they just put it in storage. The server was then used, accidentally, as the front desk manager's personal computer and the computer name and other things were changed on it. I had to reset the computer name back to MICROS3700 and correct some registry values where it said FRONTDESKMANAGE instead of MICROS3700. The problem that I am having is when I load up the server and open the Micros Control Panel, everything loads and checks off except the "POS Operations", well, it checks off, but the screen that shows the progress of setting up database connection just stays up and the progress bar just goes slowly to the end and starts over, and it will do that forever, i left it on all night and 24 hours later when i came back, it was still doing it. The workstation will load up, but it also gets to the same "POS Operations" and it starts to load the database connection also, but then gives me an error that says the database is not available and asks to go into stand alone monde. database is running fine on the server, I can access it with sybase software, view the tables, etc. But the Micros Software doesn't seem to want to read it or something.
What am i missing here? I am thinking that there may be something in the registry that's still messed up.
Any help would be appreciated. A website for troubleshooting Micros would be great too, but I don't think one exists.
