Messed up extension on Merlin System

I've really managed to screw up an extension on my Merlin System, and I can seem to restore it's functionality.

On our working extensions (we have a number of 4406D+'s) when you pick up a handset, it automatically selects line 1 or 2, you get a tone, you can then dial an extention, dial 9 to get out, press button 4 to get our VOIP line, or cradle the handset which hangs up and releases the line.

But on the screwed up extention, when you pick up the cradle, no line is selected, so no tone. You have to manually select a line. Then you get a tone. You can then dial an extension. If you try to dial 9 to get out though, you get a weird error sound. Pressing button 4 seems to hang up the phone, so you never get the VOIP line. If you cradle the handset the phone does *not* hang up or release the line (at that point, the messed up button 4 which seems to hang up the phone, is somewhat helpful)

I have the Quick Reference book, and have tried Copying Features and SA/ICOM Buttons from a working extention. I have also tried Copying Line/Truck Button Assignments from a working extention. Again, no dice.

I don't know a lot about these phones, but when I go into our command center phone (a 4424LD+) the extension seems to be set up like the other extensions, so I think I may have accidently set a feature on this phone that I don't want... but I may be mistaken.

Any ideas?

it look like you may have headset status & hang up programed on that station, do a print out of ext ,or inspect each button

You will need to reset the 'AutoLineSelection';
Feature *14 > select buttons in order you want (i.e. SA-R > SA-V > SA-O) when finished, press **14.

To find out what's on your buttons, select Feature then press the buttons and the display will show what is programmed on that button.

Franke -

I am having issues entering the feature code you have suggested. Here's what happens... I enter feature, then '*', when i try to enter the next character, the entension beep (negatively) at me, and appears to cancel the feature entry. Any other ideas?

on a 4406 you have to go off hook & dial #00 first

um.. ok...

How do I exit this #00 mode?

Also, following a pervious user's advice, I have tried the inspect feature, but I am now unsure how to get out of the inspect feature mode as well.

Ah.. some progress.

I was able to exit the #00 mode by just unplugging the phone and then replugging it in.

I then when back in and followed this advice from franke:

"You will need to reset the 'AutoLineSelection';
Feature *14 > select buttons in order you want (i.e. SA-R > SA-V > SA-O) when finished, press **14. "

So now, when i pick up the handset, it selects SA-R (woo hoo! progress!)

However, I am still having issues.

When I press 9 to dial out, I still get the weird error sound - like a european police car - (whether I use SA-R or SA-V), and when I try to access my VOIP line (button 4) the extension still just acts as though I issued a hang up.

oh, and bobsou,

I could not exit the #00 mode at the time by simply hanging up becuase the extension was not responding to hanging up the extension - on hook or off hook, with out programing the auto line selection, uncradling or cradling the handset didn't *do* anything unless you manually selected a line. With auto line select working now.., cradling the handset now works as you describe.

Naturally, dial#*00 would have also worked at the time, but I wasn't aware of that command. The unplugging and repluggin of the extension worked though. I tried that only becuase it was beeping at me ever 10 seconds, and it was getting annoying.

that is wave off tone ,the phone more than likey does not any lines or pools asign to it , go to lines & trunks ,in system prog. any lines asign to that station

also when you go off hook dial #00 then touch button 4 in the display ,what does it say

ugh.. now I am worse off.

Ok, so following bobsou's advice, I tried to assign lines/pools to the phone. I felt this should not be nessasary, becuase when I inspect the buttons 1-4 they say the exact same thing as a properly working extension does. Also, when i go to the command center phone (4424LD+) the lines/trunks also appear to be set up properly.

I tried setting lines/pools for this extension up on the command center phone, but since it appeared to be set up like the other extensions already, no change occured.

I then tried to use the Copy Feature (ctr-Program -> Copy ext -> etc) to copy a working extension on to this one.

*THAT* royally messed up the extension, becuase now auto line selection is no longer working, *and* when I try to reprogram the autoline selection back on the extension, it doesn't take the command.

button 1 says "SysAcc Ring -I"
button 2 says "SysAcc Voice -I"
button 3 says "SysAcc-00 Ring"
button 4 says "line 803 -I"

This is what properly working extensions as well say as well.

go to extension ,check your restrictions what does it say
system program
extensions
restrictions

"go to extension ,check your restrictions what does it say

- 'Unrestricted' is blinking
