Hi,

I have an error message occuring intermittantly on a 2250 console when it is transferrring a call to another 2250 console on a different Option 11.

The calling switchboard transfers the call and gets the ringing tone of the called 2250, then after a couple of rings gets a verble message saying "the session cannot be continued" and then it disconnects the call.

It is a VoIP call so the message is deffinatly comming from the switch, im just not sure why.

Has anyone come accross this before or know what might be causing this?

it's not a canned switch msg, might be a voice mail msg.. which would imply the transfer is conf(?) to a menu service..

if your in a menu and dial a digit that is not defined, you can get that msg.. i do not know of another way to duplicate that. i would have to trace some of those calls to determine the cause..

There must be Meridian Mail in the picture. The problem is nothing can perform a transfer when an Attendant Console is part of the call.

You can't transfer or even hang up on an Attendant. The attendant will need to know the extn or telephone number the menu is trying to send the caller to, and dial it directly.

If you tell the caller what to press, then release the call...that's one work-around

GHTROUT, you are right in saying that Meridian Mail is in the picture.

I have just had the problem happen again, so i called the site that the message is coming from and found they were very busy and i got a message saying they are busy and will answer the call ASAP.

Im guessing that this is what is hapening :-

Site A tries to transfer a call to site B, but site B are busy, instead of getting the busy message they are getting the "session cannot be continued" one instead.

Is there a way round this, or will the transfer only work when Site B isnt busy?

Thx

Can anyone offer anymore help?

Hi.

I have confirmed that the AODN for the switchoard is Meridian Mail. Will this be an actual mailbox or can it be just an announcemnet saying "we are busy, please hold and wil will answer your call ASAP" for example?

if it is the announcement, where in mail can i find this message?

Cheers

Sounds like there is no message thats ever been recorded that is the problem.
You can add a new voicemail box or DN table.

You need to look at the site your trying to send the call to and see how the are setup to handle the call.

How are you dialing the call?

Are you dialing an ACCOD or NARS/BARS?

What digits are you sending to the other site?

Unless we know how your dialing and how the call is processed though each switch, where just guessing.

Can you send a call to an EXT instead of the 2250 at the other site?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.
