HI, ONE CLIENT WHANTS A CORDLESS PHONE FOR MERLIN MAGIX (3810), I ALREADY BUYED, IT NOT WORKS BECAUSE THE RELEASE OF THE PROCESOR IS R1.0, I FOUND ANOTHER PROCESOR R5.0, I TRY TO DO A PRINT WITH THE WIN SPM AND SHOW A COMMUNICATION ERROR, I VERIFY THE CABLE AND THE WINSPM WITH ANOTHER SYSTEM R1.0 AND IT WORKS OK, THE ACTUAL PROCESOR IT PRESENT A ERROR (RED ON, I VERIFY IN THE CONSOLE AND HAVE A PERMANENT ERROR (POOL M-BUSY EXCEEDS 50%) SLOT 00 PORT 02,03 COUNT 001,002 CODE 1C01...TRANSIENT ERRORS (POOL BUSY &/0R 00S) SLOT PORT 002,06,03 COUNT 002,001,004 CODE 4C03, I TRY TO MAKE A DEMAND TEST OF THE PROCESOR THEN PEEK AND SLOT 00 AND APEARS ENTER HEX ADDRESS....DID SOME NOWS WHAT I CAN DO? I SUPPOSED TO DO A TRHU BACKUP BEFORE I CAN CHANGE THE RELEASE AND THEN CONVERT THE BACK UP UPGRADE AND THEN RESTORE...IS THAT OK?
 
The R4 is the final version of the Merlin Magix. There is no R5. What you have is a Merlin Legend R5 processor.

Did you default the Merlin Legend R5 processor before installing it?

SORRY IS R4 FOR MERLIN MAGIX, THE ONE IS WORKING RIGHT NOW IS R1.0
 
So you took out an R4 Merlin Magix processor and put in an R1 Merlin Magix processor? That is a very unusual substitution. I would have gone with another R4 Magix processor.

Anyway, did you default the processor before installing it?

THE ACTUAL PROCESOR THAT IS WORKING WITH MY CLIENT IS R1.0, THIS ONE DONT ACCEPT AVAYA CORDLESS PHONES, THAT WHY I FIND ANOTHER PROCESOR TO MAKE THE UPGRADE TO R4.0, ALL IS MERLIN MAGIX... If you try to download the current R1.0 translations into WinSPM 9.0 and convert the translations for the R4.0 processor, what happens?

I CAN READ THE INFORMATION OF THE R1.0 PROCESOR WITH THE WINSPM, APEARS A MESSAGE THAT I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH COMMUNICATIONS, BUT THE PROGRAM AND THE CABLE IS OK(I ALREADY CHECK WITH ANOTHER R1.0 PROCESOR)...I EXPLAIN SOME TECHNICAL ISSUES THAT HAPPENDS WITH THIS PROCESOR, FIRST... IT HAS A RED ON THAT SHOWS A INTERNAL PROBLEM...IN THE CONSOLE I LOOK FOR THE PROCESOR AND I ASK FOR A DEMAND TEST AND APEARS THAT I ALREADY EXPLAIN AT THE BEGINING OF THIS THREAD, IN THAT STEP I AM NOW....WHAT CAN I DO NEXT...
 
If you can read another R1 processor using the same cable & computer, that would tell me that the old R1 processor has problems. You may be stuck having to program the R4 from scratch, but I'll defer to other Tek-Tips members who are more knowledgeable about the Magix than I am.

OK. THANKS ANYWAY. I NEED TO SOLVE FIRTS THE PROBLEM WITH THE R1.0 RED LIGHT AND I DONT NOW IF BECAUSE OF THIS I CANT READ THE INFORMATION...
 
How about going to the Operator phone, and going into Maintenance to look at the error log. Drop each Permanant error, and see if the red light goes away.

And what is the exact communication error message you are getting?

(And can you turn the caps-lock off? Thanks)
 
Hi, i already check in the console into maintenance and present permanet and transient errors...i explained at the begining of this thread...can you tell me how erase this errors...

The communication errors apears when i try to conect, apears a message(exactly i dont remember)but it said about problem with the communication, but with the same program, cable and pc i read another R1.0 procesor of another client...but in this case did not present red on or errors..

The R1.0 procesor do another problem when the power is down and go on, some of the programing dont work right and they have some problems with few lines, they need to do a restore of the latest back up maked all work ok....

 
Can you tell me if the R1.0 software is the "International" version? It's quite different than I'm ordinarily used to, but I DO have foreign customers that use MAGIX and I often run into unusual problems like this.

I searched for dagwood systems and only came up with a tall sandwich making machine. :)

 
i dont now if the systems is international version, maybe becuse is installed in Nuevo Laredo, Tam. Mexico.

The other Merlin magix, the one that is the same version procesor is installed in Laredo Texas and is the one where the SPM works and i already make a print of all the programing, but for the moment in this one i dont need to make a upgrade.

can you now how i can see if its a international version or did you now how can errase the errors its present in the procesor..
 
I am rather certain the one south of the US Border is the international version.

It have several differences. It is so different that we (AT&T at the time) set up a totally separate group for International Support.

And I was not part of it.....

Thats means WINSPM is not reading because is international version...

can you tell me some way to erase the errors, maybe i can try...or the admin port is damage...
 
WinSPM works just fine with the International version. If you're having trouble with the Admin port, then yes, it just may be broken. However you can clear the errors if there is an Operator console in the system. The console is a larger phone and will be either an MLX-20L or 4424LD+. Is there one on the system?

Yes, they have the MLX-20L, at the begining of this thread i let now the errors that apear permanent and transient and if i want to ask for a demand test what apears..can these errors produce the fail of the readind of the winspm or how can erased...

Let me check phisically if the ADMIN port is broke or something...i need to make a print to now all the programing and then change the upgrade procesor card.
 
These errors have nothing to do with WinSPM. Code 1C01 tells you that at least half of the lines defined in your Pool are busy. Code 4C03 tells you almost the same thing; what it says is that some of the Pool members are busy, but that the idle members are out of service.

The error on Slot 00 Port 02 means that one of the unavailable phone lines is in Pool #2 (probably Pool 890). Slot 00 Port 03 indicates Pool #3 (perhaps Pool 891).

The 4C03 error seems to be happening on Pool #2, Pool #3 AND Pool #6. Why so many Pools?

Your last question has to do with something called a Frigid Start. A Frigid Start is how a technician COMPLETELY wipes out all configuration and returns the Processor to factory defaults. This process can also be part of a Processor upgrade.

In that case, a technician would back-up the system, clear out all configuration, UPDATE the Processor, CONVERT the back-up file using the WinSPM CONVERT utility, then restore the converted back-up file.

Unfortunately, back-ups made with the International version CAN NOT be converted. If you install a newer version of the MAGIX Processor, you will have to rebuild the configuration from the beginning.

Go through each phone line in the system and see which ones do not have dialtone. If they are supposed to have dialtone, then you need to report the trouble to TelMex. If not, then those lines need to be removed from any Pools.
