A bit outside of my realm here, guys, but hoping someone can give me a hand with quick question.

We're in the process of putting together a Remote IPE stack for a current customer out of left over misc parts and pieces.

Anyway, I have a question concerning the IPE modules. We have a total of 3 IPE cages going into this stack. However, 1 of the 3 is a little different than the other 2, even though the part number of the cage itself is the same (NT803701AA R5).

On the one in question, it has what appears to be a set of power switches mounted on the left side of the cage. This additional piece has a part #, NT8D57AA.

What I'm looking for is I need to know if the other two cages also need this part (NT8D57AA) or if not, what purpose does it serve?

TIA, and sorry if I sound like a N00B.

Chris

Are they all DC powered or AC powered, or is the 1 that is differnet one of the other.

Look at the Power supplies, they will state which ones are AC and which ones are DC.

Think we're going in circles John, so bear with me.

I have 3 cages. Only two actually have PS's. Both of those are AC. The third cage, the one in question , with the additional part on the side does not have a PS loaded in it, however I do have another AC PS that I can put in it.

What I'm trying to find out is why this third cage has this additional part mounted on the side (NT8D57AA) and what that part is for.

Thanks again for the help-

Chris

DOH!

Sorry. That part is a PDU, or Power distribution module, and yes, the other modules need to have the part to work.

John

Ok. Thanks for the help.

I guess what's throwing me off here (besides the fact that I'm not a Meridian guy (LOL) is that this column was essentially built as is- but only one cage had the PDU. The rest of them look as if they're already wired in and ready to go.

I guess that means that for whatever reason at some point in time someone pulled the PDU's off of the other cages in the stack?

I hate it when customers collect stuff then expect it to all fit together like magic...LOL.
