I am trying to make a few changes and am pretty green to the system. When I make a change and save it usually it says merge. When I approve, does it make the changes immediately or over time?
I made some changes and then tried to test and it didn't seem to take, so I changed things back as before and when I tested again, some of the changes appear to have been made and hadn't changed back yet. If it's true, that they take awhile, how long before I test?
This would explain alot if I'm right.

Merges generally happen instantly, I have seen some exceptions like if I make a change to a user and they are on the phone the change doesnt show up until they hang up, other than that they always seem to be pretty instant.

What is it that you are changing?

Open monitor and set everything default.
Then do the merge and look in monitor.
You will see that it takes a couple of seconds before you see the message "config write complete"

I always wait for this message before i try anything else.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

That's not what I wanted to hear, lol.
I'm trying to swap a couple of extensions and twin a couple on one phone. I have another thread open on that, so' I'll address it there. Thanks all

Did you read the part that says after you change extensions around you must dial *36 on the phone to actually apply the change? When you dial *36 on the first phone you'll see "NoUser" but when you do it on the 2nd phone the new users will show up in the correct place.

I only mention it because I missed it for a while and didn't notice it until about a year ago.

Is there anyway to force it?
I'm not sure where one of the phones is.

But then it is not a merge anymore :)

When you have IPPHones then you can reboot those from monitor -> H323 phone status.

I'll just wait 'til after hours and re-boot.
Digital phones. Thanks for your help, I may be back.

After moving the extensions around.

1) User > Telephony > Supervisor Settings put a login code in for the user.

2) Use the *35*extn*login code# short code to log the user in.

3) Go back into Manager and remove the login code.

No need for that Kyle, for example if you swap two around with each other as soon as you do *36 on one of them (even with no login code set) they both flip over automatically :)

Correct but he seemed to indicate that there were indeed two extensions but he didn't know where the other one was. If there are two phones you must dial *36 on both as dialing it on the 1st takes it to NoUser until you dial it on the 2nd. Or at least that is my experience.

We program every system this way. I just throw extensions in there any old place and we plug phones in. Then they give me a list of where they should be and I move them around then we *36 them all. Saves having to trace out all the wire.

How would I go about dialing from phone manager?
Is that the same as Office manager?
I have no IP Phones in this system, if that's what you're referring to.

No, on the user disc is a programme called Phone Manager, it can control dialling and answering and shows BLF against users and call log etc for any Digital, IP or even analogue phone (except for answering with analogue) :)

Why not programme the ports without any base extn then? That way you just log them in as you go around as they will all be No User from the off :)

Because I'm too lazy to change the .csv file that my Excel sheet creates for me. :)
