Is there away using MDSuport or EMg tty console to reset the NIU?

Hi,

Not unless you are logged on... RFBOI:BPOS=...;

Thanks for the reply,

It does not work for the the following reason:

Is there another way or a problem with the command?

hi again tuxedo penguin

if you have no documents on command formats download this as rough guide:

do not run any command apart from ones that end in P (for print) or you may damage your md110 if you do not know what commands are for.

do IODDP; to get BPOS of NIU then do RFBOI:BPOS=x-x-x; if example IODDP says NIU position are 1-0-60-00, 1-0-60-01, and so on, then do RFBOI:BPOS=1-0-60; then Y;

Then try and log on NIU. After that it may be software on MD110 so try RFPUI:UNIT=TWP3,LIM=x; where x=lim that NIU in. Try and log on again. after this if still fails then try RFPUI:UNIT=NIP&FIP,LIM=x; where lim is which one NIU is in again. if still not work try pull out NIU for 10 second and put back in. then try again.

Thank you for all the input guys,

I have managed to restart the NIU, however I get a short burst of between one and three ping replies. Having a good solid networking background I assume there is a service/setting which is conflicting causing the NIU not to work.

Does any one know what I can do to check what is causing the problem?

The MD110 NIU is *VERY* sensitive to broadcast network traffic. Do some network sniffing with wireshark (ethereal) on the NIU board connection. if this is the case, best solution is to isolate the NIU from the network with a router/firewall...

I have tested by plugging the MD110 and the server into a decated isolated switch, the same problem occurs, I don't think this is a network related issue. even if I just connect the MD110 by itself to the switch I get a link status (Link LED is on) but no activity (Activity LED off)

your switch must be configured 10Mbit HALF duplex...

Hi,

It took about so long to get our network admins to answer the call I logged but there is good news,
I have had the port configured, accordingly, but it does not work. Actually it still does the same. I have a stack of info to send through but the problem is I had to take screen shots to get it.

I think there is a problem with the configuration and possibly the licenses.
Can I email this info to someone that can assist me?

I would appreciate a the assistance.

PS: the powah of Google is lacking for the Ericsson MD110 system...:) is there any special way to search for things such as a copy of Alex? and maybe the latest help files with the MML commands in it.

Alex is not freeware, you need to contact your local E/// representative to purchase this package.

regarding the NIU problem, can you provide me these printouts :

IODDP;
IONPP;
CNBIP:BRDID=106,LIM=ALL;

do you have the same problem if you connect the NIU via crossed cable directly towards your PC?

I can't answer because the cable is connected to the NIU through a fancy block type connector, and on the other end there is an RJ45 crimped to it. This goes directly into the Switch.

you can put a crossed cable via a RJ-45 extension block...

Will try this in the morning, you didn't say if the info I sent through was good bad or lacking. Are you by any chance waiting for the results of the crossover test before you comment. Just curious because I am still unsure of the results from IODDP, why doesn't NET and NET2 report IN SERVICE?

the info you sent me is okay. NIU firmware revision is a bit low though (latest version = R19A). what revision is your PBX? (do CADAP;)
