I am getting conflicting answers from ATAC and my distributor, and the knowledge base seems to be ambiguous.
I am to replace a 412 with a 500 v1 (at rel 6.1)and move over 2 - dual pri cards via legacy card carriers. So I will have 4 - PRI's, but customer has indicated they will expand at some point.

What is the maximum number of PRI's of any combination - single, dual, ip 400 and ip 500 - allowed on an ip office 500v1?
I have been told both 8 and 4.

Thanks,
Danny

4* dual PRI
But if you need that amount of PRI's then the IPOffice is not the PBX you need.
You can only have two legacy card carriers so perhaps that is the misunderstanding?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

so technically the ip office will support up to 8 pri's - correct?

You can have a max of two legacy carrier cards in an IPO, so if you have two older dual PRI cards, that adds up to 4.

If you put base cards in the other two slots that supported daughter cards, you could in theory add another 2 -daul PRI Universal cards, thus totalling 8.

But as TlPeter said, 8 PRI's probably means you need to be looking at another PBX... 88 PRI voice channels feeding a max of 384 sets?

On other thing to keep in mind is that the older IP400 PRI cards don't support some of the newer features, e.g. mobile call control, one-X mobile client etc. You need the newer PRI Universal cards for that.

thanks to all for your responses and clarifying the issue

not to mention the cost of unlocking all those PRI channels! - go for a fat SIP trunk - might work out cheaper than all those PRI rentals too!

Agreed Monkey. A provider in the Midwest (USA) has a PRI for $350 or 48 SIP trunks for the same price.

I still like PRI
old and solid and not dependent on your Internet connection, but of course you can't argue the price and that seems to dictate these days a lot of decisions.
Seeing that I recently had a customer decline a PRI because the line provider wanted to charge 1800/month plus a $8000 fee to bring it into the building SIP is a lot of times the way to go.
They paid $10.000 instead for fiber into the building and increased their Internet speed and went with SIP and so far they are happy.

Google it you damn kids

You can have 4 Dual PRI's but only 180 channels in total so depending if you have a E1(30 chan) or a T1(24 chan) then it's 6 or 7 PRI's

Will the host IP500 support 2 dual PRI cards? I thought a dual card would use ports 9&10. If it does support a second PRI daughter board which ports does it use. I have a 5th PRI daughter board too. Can it be mounted onto a digital station module and if so which ports does it use?

Bill you have single and dual cards, 4 cards in a IP500 and 4 PRI max.

In the Manager open the wizard and put in the cards you cannot go more than 4.

Got it. So the two 2 port PRI daughter boards will mount in the 500 and the one 1 port PRI daughter board will mount in a trunk or staiton expansion module? This application is for 5 Ts all together.

NO, you cannot put ANY daugther cards on an expansion module. Daughter card only work on Base cards. This is basic knowledge!
Did you had a course on the IPOffice??

• IP500 Universal PRI Trunk Card (Maximum 4)

This type of card can be added to an IP500 Digital Station card, IP500 Analog Phone card, or IP500 VCM card. It allows that card to then also support primary rate digital trunk connections. Available in single and dual versions the IP400 PRI card provides single and dual primary rate trunk interfaces respectively. The PRI is configurable for T1, E1 or E1R2 MFC use depending on the territory.
Details of the supported ISDN supplementary services and protocols for each PRI are given in the 'Public and Private Voice Networks' section.

The IP500 Universal PRI trunk cards incorporate an integrated CSU/DSU. The CSU function allows the trunk to be put in loop-back mode for testing purposes. This can be set manually, using the monitor application, or automatically from a Central Office sending a Line Loop Back (LLB) pattern. The DSU function allows the T1 trunk to be shared between data and voice services.
Here is a summary of the capabilities of the card:

• Each card is configurable to connect to T1, E1 or E1R2 lines.
• The card is available in either a single or dual PRI variant. The single variant can support up to 24 T1 channels or up to 30 E1 channels. The dual variant can support up to 48 T1 channels or 60 E1 channels.
"• On each card, 8 channels per interface are enabled by default. This means that the single PRI has 8
channels enabled, while the dual PRI has 16 channels enabled. Further channels may be enabled by the
purchase of additional licenses in 2-channel or 8-channel increments."
• The IP500 PRI daughter card works on any IP500 VCM or extension base card (not the Legacy Card Carrier).
• Up to four Universal PRI cards can be installed in any combination in the IP500 chassis.
• Diagnostics capabilities:
• Visual indicators to show service state
• Physical test points to monitor traffic
• These trunks support the mobility features of Mobile Call Control and one-X Mobile client.
