Hi all..
My current computer running mas 90 is an old winnt 4 box due to faillure any moment now :)
I purchased a new pc with windows 2000 installed mas 90 onto it and now my question...

How do i take my current mas 90 and somehow take the database files and make the new mas just like the old one...
I can't figure out what folders i need to copy over...
and apparently mas 90 doesn't have a "backup" feature

In the past when the computer had crashed i was able to restore most of the database files from a backup... but it was just a "raw backup of all the files in the mas 90 directory...
and when i installed those files into the new mas 90 folder the databse was there but alot of the setting (like for the printers etc.) was gone and it took us some time to get those to get tuned out right again...

So this time i want to do it right but the manual nor the program itself seem to give you much help...

Anyway some of the specs are
Laptop running windows 2000 with mas 90 "server setup"
and other computers connect to the laptop over a network...

Any help or a push into the right direction would be appreciated,
Thank you.

What version of MAS90 are you using? If it is a current version you should have a directory on the old computer called MAS90. Copy this folder and all its subdirectories to your new computer. Go to MAS90\WKSETUP directory and run workstation setup. This should be all you need to do to move your system.

Good Luck

V3.40 Rev 0999 is the version we have
So should i uninstall the mas90 i allready installed on the laptop?
Then copy over the mas90 folder from the winnt box and then run the mas90\wksetup?

Will this wksetup just restore all registry settings etc for mas90...and mas90 will run the same way as was running on the winnt box?
all settings for printers, forms will still be the same,
the databases will be there... company setup will be there..
so basically i will not lose a thing...?

No need to uninstall MAS90 on the laptop unless you just want to get it off of there. You can setup as many MAS90 workstations as you like. The licenses are for concurrent logins not wk installs. If you decide to uninstall I'd wait until you have moved everything.

wksetup installs the providex runtime and registry setting onto the workstation. All setting printers, forms, etc are saved under the MAS90 directory on the server and will be there no matter where you move the directory to. You will lose nothing.
