Hi all,

I have the above base unit and I can't seem to do anything with it. What's happening is all the LEDs (including a red main LED) light up for about 3 seconds, then the main light turns orange and all the others go off for about 1 second, then it just repeats. I've tried DTE-ing to see if I can default the unit through HyperTerminal but it is not allowing me to enter any commands. The last thing I did was try to upgrade the unit to version 6 and it started the sequence after the unit timed out without upgrading. Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it? Many thanks in advance.

it timed out because you didn't put it through the loader on the way up to R6.

I would try DTEing again with R5 firmware, then use the proper steps to upgrade.

Problem is my Manager software can no longer see the unit for me to put R5 on it. Is there another way to get around this?

Almost Tom, almost :)

OK I have managed to enter the commands through DTE that I would normally use to default a unit. Sorry hairlesssupportmonkey, I'd already done it before I saw your post! However, I am still getting the same LED sequence as before. The HyperTerminal output looks like this:

That shows where I entered the AT commands, and with every repeat of the LED sequence, the section that looks like this:

just keeps repeating.

You need to keep banging on the escape button untill it stops.

Then you need to follow the faq.

im gunna say.

sillyness

your AT commands are working.

you now need to configure manager to send up some firmware to your box!

I would put 6.0 in it :)
Why ? the loader is only needed to make a bit of room so the software fits.
When there is no software then you do not make that bit of room.

It does not expand the memory like somewhere in 3.1

Try just AT-X to get rid of the not finished release 6 core software.
Then it should be getting new software via Bootp requests.
So be sure to configure you're manager to look at the manager\V5_0_999 directory.

tlpeter, i got a 406 back where someone had missed the loader, it wouldn't take R6 until i had put it back on R5 and put it through the loader, although escorthosis is probably right, you might be able to go straight to the loader then upgrade from there, i didn'try that, but the one i had wouldn't take R6 straight after being dte'd

You need, to go thru the V5.0.999 look in the docs.
