So, I've read through several posts and haven't found an answer. I want what this guys is asking for in this post: That is, to be able to use the User appearance to be able to see when/who's on the phone, but also have that same button Page/Intercom that user *instead* of ring. That post is kind of old, so I'm hoping it's changed...and I couldn't find one that answered my question.

For the life of me I can't figure out what's going on with this. I'm testing it internally (IPO v9.1, variety of phones (9621,9641,9611,9608) and at a customers (IPO 9.1 all 9611's) with mixed results...it seams to work only half the time at our office using the Dial-->User-->nnn-username in button programming. I can create the Auto Intercom and Dial Intercom buttons, and they work fine...but I loose the line appearance for user.

As it stands right now...the user appearance button will intercom/page from all phones at our office to one phone (a 9641), but if you press any other user from any other phone, it calls/rings. The 9641 will only ring all users, it cannot page/intercom any user.

I've put all the users in the same User Rights group, along with a myriad of other changes, and I can't figure out what is different other than the phone...somebody please tell me what I'm missing. [banghead][hairpull3][curse] Thanks.

Ok...I literally solved my problem by typing it out..."the only difference is the phones"...so I'm changing this from Question to Tip before I even post it.[wiggle]

The 9641 was the only one to have Phone-->Features-->Call Settings-->Internal Auto-Ans turned on! Also, in Home-->Settings-->Options & Settings-->Call Settings-->Audio Path needs to be speaker if you want them to be able to just start talking.

Hope this is helpful to someone and not something that's been answered 15 times already...

you need a second button that is dial direct and then hit the user button, it won't do it with only one button AND seeing when they are on the phones

Nope, I have it working with just one button.

I have the user appearance (I can tell if they are on/off the phone / Blinks Red when they are on). And I can press that same button to intercom them (3 beeps and goes to their speaker phone...and shows me they are on the phone at the same time.).

Nice tip. It works for me except it bypasses my mobile twinning for internal calls. Which, in all honesty, doesn't bother me. But may be an issue to my co-workers who want to use 3 digit dialing to call me where ever I may be at the time. [smile]

Add a shortcode like 3XXX/N/Dial Extension/0 and let them dial four digits instead of three to call you

At that rate I would have a shortcode *XXX/N/Dial Direct/0 and emulate a Partner system HFAI function. If they just want to see if I am working in the lab * my extension. (I don't rate a DSS key)
