I have a user who wants to be able to page back through records on a data-entry form, then once he finds a record be able to copy it into a new record, change whatever might be a little different, and then save it as this new record. The original record needs to remain unchanged. He feels that this will save him time over re-typing everything since many of our quotes are identical or similar. The quote for has an autonumber field that gives the quote its number. Any ideas how I can go back, get the information, and then bring it forward to a new record? Thanks for the help.

Go to the record to copy, click the bar (record selector) all the way to the left of the form hit CTRL+C, go to a new record, press CTRL+V. Does that work for you?

you can also create a command button to "dup" a record

click command button on the toolbox.
drag it to your form.
In "Categories" list Pick "Record Operatoins"
Then in pick "Duplicate record"

then follow prompts to the end

have fun

Thanks for the help guys but unfortuantly it doesn't work. My form has two tabs with information on it, and I think that is what is causing the problem. When I use either method, an error screen pops up saying all of the fields do not match and asks if I want to paste the fields that do match. If I say yes, it pastes whatever tab I was on when I copied, but not the entire record from both tabs. Any ideas on this?

Does anyone have any other ideas or is there just no way to do this?
