Anyone else ever have this problem?

I have a ton of stuff that needs to get done... all of it has deadlines within the next week or two, some are ASAP... yet I can't seem to get my concentration on doing any sort of work for any length of time... perhaps I've caught a bit of Spring fever, this is the first week with temps in the 70s and 80s here in NY... I don't have a window anywhere near me, I have to get up and walk a bit to look out one, so looking isn't the problem... I just can't seem to focus on work right now...

I am usually quite the perfectionist - work hard, work hours at a time and get it all done, bring it home if I must. The only thing I usually instist upon for myself is that I do minimal overtime and always take lunch (even if it's a bit abridged) away fromn my desk. Maybe I'm just burnt and need a vacation? I'm going away Sat and Sun. but not taking time off any time soon... next real vacation is Labor Day week...

So, should I feel guilty? Does anyone have any exercises or techniques to get themselves to concentrate and focus on work, even when their brain seems to turn off for awhile? BeckahC

:)I find that chatting on-line, shoppping on-line and IRL, etc. helps a bit... I am also - a little over a week from my anniversary, a little over 2 weeks from finding out - girl or boy? - and about a month away from both finishing a major project and going to Disney World! I guess you can say I've got so much to think about, even the time I set aside to rest gets marred by thoughts of things still needed (home and work), things to do (both again), and then there seems to be this portion of one's brain that goes away for 9 months and gives you what a friend of mine referred to as "pg brain" where I forget what I was about to do, forget where I was headed, forget to mention something, etc.... which means that I have more than twice as many post-it notes stuck all over my desk and computer, both here at work and at home! (-:
So really my problem is focusing on one thing at a time, without forgetting the other dozen you need to think about after!;-) BeckahC

Oh well, i forgot:
I bought a PDA and it handles all dates, todos and stuff, that helps a lot, too!

BeckahC - Congradulations on both your anniversary and upcoming addition to the family. Its no wonder that you have trouble keeping focused. I don't blame you.

You're obviously at a very wonderful time in your life, cherish it and enjoy it -- no matter what else is on your plate - nothing can compare to the joy of family (present and future). I can't think of anything better, or more important, to dominate your thoughts.

I wish you well, and have fun at WDW. Let us know when we can celebrate the new life. Good Luck

Thank you C.C.! :) I admit, part of my distraction must come from excitement at all that is happening in my life... I also must say I am trying very hard to maintin my quality of work at the same time. I'm not going anywhere, so you'll definitely know about when the Little One comes around:) BeckahC
