Magix t-1 DID help!

hey all,

just installed a magix system and it will not work at all with the T1. Configuration as follows: T1 comes into a netvanta 3205 data is split out (channels 1-16) channels 17-24 are routed out the dsx1 into the ds1 on the 100r INA module on the PBX. this is a standard ESF B8zs signal & winik-wink. the ds1 port is set to DID wth the appropriate channels entered which makes the appropriate lines show up in the trunks pane. they are sending me 3 digits and this is all configured. I cannot access any of these lines from the phones hooked to the PBX and any calls into these lines get intermittent "number has been disconnected" or a rapid busy signal or just dead air. My T provider swears up and down that their circuits are good and that the issues are all because my config is wrong. I have spent hours on the phone with my vendor for the PBX and he is out of options.

Help I only have a few more days before ths goes live and i don't want to have to pay avaya!

You can put an INA card in any slot if it is used for voice only. If the INA is used to split the voice and data, I believe that the card must be in the first slot of a carrier.

Tell me what roll the Netvanta 3205 plays; it sounds as if it is the V/D mux. But then I wonder, why then use an INA instead of an ordinary 100D?

If this one gets too hairy, I'll offer a phone # instead of keyboard time.

My INA card is in slot two, it goes proc.- 412 TDL then the 100r INA then my other extension modules.The netvanta takes the raw T1 from the smart jack and splits out the data and acts as the edge router for those IP's while the voice channels get sent out from the dsx1 port on the adtran into the INA. I have the CSU disabled on the INA module and in the SPM i set the ds1 to T1, and then to DID, it prompted me for the channels so i entered 17-24. Then i checked my DID trunks and it showed the lines for those channels 821-828. Its set to robbed bit, B8ZS ESF and i am taking 3 numbers deleting 1 and adding 1. Then i sent lines 821-828 to my extensions (not pooled just assigned) and the extensions just pull dead air. When you try to call into my DID block you either get dead air, a busy signal or the automated "you are dialing a number that has been disconnected or no lnger in service..." sorry if this is a repeat of the last one just wnat to toss out as much detail as i can.

Well, first off, the INA can reside in any slot.

DID is a ONE WAY IN SERVICE only.

Is that what you really want?

So I would suggest, not knowing about the netvanta, that you would probably want to configure the T1 as E&M Tie
Lines.

Do the NETVANTA documents tell you how the PBX needs to be configured?

The adtran just passes through channels 17-24, it has nothing to do with the service. its the same setup i used with my parter acs v7 and it works great. Each one of those channels has its own dial tone and is a line for the system. I think my tech contact at the t provider has no clue what he is talking about. the DID block is mapped to those 8 lines.

OKay i have definate confirmation this is a standard B8zs T1 handoff from my t provider

It sounds as if we do not know if they are providing Tie Lines or Loop Start Lines.

That needs to be determined so you can program the Magix accordingly.

Accoprding to the provider they aren't either, its just a straight voice channel handoff, we just need to tell the magix that whats coming in are 8 t1 voice channels and to treat them as voice lines,

Let me explain this as best I can.

A Magix T1 can be configured as Loop Start Lines, Ground Start lines, Tie Lines or as a PRI.

Just saying a Voice T1 WON'T GET IT DONE!

Now, you have got to INSIST that the vendor tell you if these are LOOP START, GROUND START or E&M Tie Lines.

If I was going to guess, I would try E&M Wink Start (Legend/Magix Default for Tie Lines) and see if that works.

To do this , under LINES/TRUNKS/ T1 PRESS ENTER, then choose Tie Lines, then select the Lines/Channels to make TIE LINE.

Like I said before, we do not have enough of, or the right kind of info for this setup.

Perhaps the vendor can get the info for you based on what I've provided so far.

For DID service riding a conventional T1, each channel has its own signalling in the E/M format.(non PRI) At the digital level it is the AB bit combination on each side, TX, RX, that provides this "on hook - off hook" signalling. Also when the trunk/channel is accessed for a call in either direction these are the bits that are also "winked" for the call to proceed or not if using "wink-start" signalling.

So when using this format with the Legend/Magix the trunk/channels parameters and types all must match one another for it to work.

Also make sure you get all the config info from the service provider for what was ordered. This way things can be matched when programming.
