Hello,

I have recently come into ownership of a Nortel MG1000 system. I primarily have knowledge of Cisco systems, so Nortel is new to me. I have a phone that, for some reason, won't recognize the handset. The phone itself and handset work fine as I have tested them on another line. I can make calls with the speaker just fine. If I restart the phone I can make one call via the handset, but then it won't work after that. I don't get a dial tone or anything when I pick up the handset.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

Are you sure you are plugged into the handset connector and not the headset connector?

Yes. I tested it with another line and the handset works fine.

Not sure what you have going on there. I have seen stuck buttons cause weird issues like this but you say you have tested on another line? I'm assuming another TN, correct? And it works fine? Kinda odd it works one time then doesn't. Can you possibly post a print out if the TN that doesn't work?

I am assuming this is what you were looking for.

Nothing in that print out looks off, I guess it could be a bad TN. But definitely quite odd that it works once and then stops.

Any suggestions? Possibly delete it and recreate it? If so, could you point me in the direction on some instructions of how to do that?

Thank you

If you have a spare TN I would just move it using the MOV command in LD 11 and see if it acts different on the new TN.

I tried moving TNs and got the same issue. I then unplugged the cable from the phone jack on the wall and plugged it back in..and..it fixed it.

I have seen phones do strange things after having liquids spilled on them, then once they are dried out and reset they work just fine, may be what happened here.
