Anyone know if adding power to the line will allow me to get a longer Loop Length on the M2000 sets. You can do it with the NORSTAR but not sure if you can with the PBX. I'm looking at putting a phone about a mile away from the switch.
As perry states you could double, or maybe even triple your pairs if necessarry. Measure your loop resistance and make sure it is less than 175 ohms. The problem you may encounter on a triple pair arrangement is increased capacitance, you may have to play around a little.
If none of this doesn't do the trick, Mitel used to sell a box that would extend a digital set significantly. Not sure if they still do, but you could search the net.
your running into a timing problem, not a ohm problem. might want to look at voip or depending on the lan maybe a remote office. if you can get a 2000 working at that distance you may be installing a trouble in your switch.
or if voip is out of the questions, and the end user can handle an analog phone, just install an opx circuit and extend the analog signal out there.....but then again you would be incurring a monthly charge on that circuit, so...
maybe not a cable charge on that ckt, i have feeder cable on this site pushing 2 miles, we were just analog at that distance, without an ops card but now have fiber remotes, 14 of them.. plus a few carrier remotes to more distant locations
