hello, I have an IP Office 406 system with release 3.1.65.
I have 5410 phones configured with two lines.
I have these kinds of problems I would like to solve:

- a user is using line 1 and another call arrives
In this moment there is a very soft ring (only one), almost impossible to hear in an open space, and then the written notification on last line of the display + the bell in side of line two. Sometimes the user doesn't realize that there is this second call and looses it...
Is it possible to have a louder and eventually continuous ring... or other sorts of notification?

- a user is using line 1 and another call arrives
no one else is able to capture this incoming call, at least I don't know any way to do it.
instead if a call arrives and the user is not at the phone yet, another user can capture the call with the code
*45*int_number#

If the anwer to above questions is no, as I'm planning to upgrade to version 4, is one of these going to be addressed?
Thanks for your help.

It seems I'm able to partialy solve the second problem with the call coverage function and the call coverage appearence buttons...
But it seems it works only for an extension to be able to do coverage for another extension. How if I would like that anyone in a group of users can be able to do coverage for any extension of the group?
No hints for the other problem?

Item 1, use phone manager lite to notify of second call.

Item 2, use Advanced, call, call pickup members in button programming.

Thanks for the answer. I tried those but:
1) Even with phone manager lite, I receive the pop up window when the first call comes in. But when I am on the phone and another call arrives, if PM is minimized it doesn't pop up and if it is in foreground, I only see the arrow of the second line but nothing special...
So it seems a very similar behaviour and not very helping

2) With coverage, when a second call arrives, after the predefined number of seconds, the extension that does coverage receives notification with bell display and sound.
Instead this way I verified that each extension can pick up any extension belonging to the group(thanks!) but there is no bell or sound notification on other extensions. This way it is only pheasible when all the extensions of the hunt group are near one another... or did I miss anything in configuration?

If you want more than one person to answer the incoming call, route the call in ICR to a hunt group, created with the users you want the call to ring at as memebers. That way you will be answering a call to the HG which rings its members instead of covering someone elses call. That is the intended purpose of a hunt group.

As a general rule, if the call is to be routed to just one person, and no one else should answer the call, you route it to the user. If it is not for the single user only, then you route it to a hunt group(even if the HG has only one member active or ringing), which can ring to main users, and then even to an overflow hunt group as well after a pre-determined time elapsed in ringing, or if HG member is busy. You could even make the HG ring the users in order A, then B, then C, then D users, so if one is on the phone it goes to the next one in the line. That way if the first person answers the call the second one never even hears it ring, if not, then they hear it ring.

I have the same problem with not alerting loud enough on a second call. phone manager works okay, but when I am on a call, the second call that comes through only rings phone manager one time very briefly as well.

If you are on the phone, and another call rings directly to, and only to your user, you will only hear the brief alert. Personally, when I am on the phone I do not want a loud alert which if it were we would be hearing that the alert makes them not hear the ongoing call because of its volume, and that it should really be quieter.

I can however make every call transferred to you out of a VM AA, announce your calls via a wav file, played over an overhead paging system. This does require your having an overhead paging system, a paging inteface to it on the IPO, and of course a VMPRO AA which answers the call, and transfers it to you. It will also work paging over the phones themselves in a paging hunt group with a limited number of users based on your proccessor type. Note: paging over phones requires a paging interface configured on the IPO via an analog station port, not a trunk port. This may be an alternative for you to make the alert a bit louder. Other than this, I think you are out of luck.
