I logged onto my pc and go to Start -> All Programs and there is nothing there anymore. It said Empty before I loaded some stuff. Anyone have any idea how to recover items? Ideas as to why it happened? There is nothing in my Recycle bin, so the kids didn't delete anything, at least I think they didn't. Can I try and go back to a previous startup when the items showed up?

Using XP Pro SP2.

Try restore to a previous point.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Try clicking on Start -> Settings -> Taskbar and Start Menu. Kids may have changed number of programs to 0 or clicked on Clear List. Clearing the shortcuts doesn't remove the program. Worst case scenario, you might have to manually install Start Menu shortcuts.
