Hi there!

Last week the first DC of my domain (a domain with 2 DC servers) lost its disk.
This was the global catalog server.

I've installed everything on a new disk and everything works fine except for one thing: when I add a new user, the user can't logon because the server complains about not having any global catalog server on my domain.

When I run dcdiag I have the same information.

Is it possible to rebuild a catalog server on my domain? How can I define a catalog server on W2K?

Many thanks.

You go into Sites and Services, choose the server you want to be a GC, right click on it's NTDS properties and make it a GC.

Davetoo

is your answer for W2K3 as well for W2k?

My DCs are Win 2000 Servers

Thanks

If you're servers are W2K, then what does it matter if the process is the same for a W2K3 server?

Yes...it is, but that's an irrelevant question honestly.
