Our telephone company has changed our service from ground start to loop start.

Since this change, we are unable to make long distance phone calls from the Nortel 11x phone system.

I've read countless links but nothing is clear and concrete.

I believe I need to make a change to lop for my trunks in LD 14 on my system...

But I am not sure of the exact steps and whether that is the right path.

Could anyone help?

I can terminal into the system and pull up a LD but I just don't know enough to make the system switch over to Loop start.

We do much prefer to ask the carrier change it back to what the customer purchased and ordered (ground start). This is because the PBX can monitor and control the state of the trunk (on hook/off hook etc) much beter if the trunk is ground start (refered to as supervision). Although we can usually make it work as a loop start trunk: LD 14 - change the SIGL prompt from GRD to LOP. Changing it to loop start would not be my first choice. I'd go through the hassle of making the carrier fix their issue. However, I might make the trunk loop start (so the customer could use the trunk if needed) until I successfully won my battle with the carrier to fix their change.

Thank you for the reply. So, do I have to change each trunk one by one from grd to lop? Or is this one single setting from ld 14 and that takes care of the whole system?

Also, is there any guide you can point to on a clear step by step to change it? I can get into LD 14 but once I am there I am not sure on trunk numbers and which line goes to which trunk and where to come across the actual SIGL prompt...

I did find the following.. Does this look right? And if so, my questions are 1. how do I determine the TN of each trunk? 2. do I need supervision setting to YeS or NO?

LD 14

REQ: type CHG
TYPE: enter COT
TN: Enter TN of trunk

Set SIGL to LOP
Set SUPN to YES
