hello,

I have read on another website that lookup fields should be avoided when designing a database. This leads me to some questions :
How do I input the data via comboboxes on a form ? I shall only see autonumbers in the comboboxes ?
do I have to use unbound forms ?

thanks for any suggestions

you can do an after update even on the combo box to populated the fields you want with the information. the syntax is different for access97 and access 2000 so id have to know which you are using.

is the datasource for the form the same as the datasource in which you wish to store the final information?

I think the caution against lookup fields is that you should not use them in tables. In forms, you will definitely want to use multi-column combo boxes. If it's not working out for you, try using the wizard at first, and poke into the controls properties when it's done, so you can see what's been done.

hi

I'm using access 2002. I want to use one form for inserting new records with a manual save, so I can run validation checks via VB. And another form for editing, deleting the records.

thanks
