Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a code, on the old index system, to associate a phone to a digital port and release it by typing a code into the phone itself once it's patched back to a port.

This exists on the definity platform and I think it's referred to as the TTY code on definity.

cheers

umm,it IS supposed to do that, right??

There are a few different flavors of what I think you're referring to:

This is from a White Paper:

TTI, PSA, CTA, & ACTR

Automatic Customer Telephone Rearrangement
ACTR makes it easy to identify and move telephones, allowing a phone to be unplugged from one location
and moved to a new location without additional switch administration. The switch automatically associates
the extension with the new port. ACTR works with Avaya 6400 Series Serialized phones and Avaya
2420 phones. The 6400 Serialized phone is stamped with the world "Serialized" on the faceplate for easy
identification. Both the 6400 Serialized telephone and the 2420 telephone electronically store their own part
ID (comcode) and serial number in memory. ACTR uses the stored information and associates the phone
with the new port when the phone is moved.
ACTR is an enhancement to related administrative features, including Terminal Translation Initialization
(TTI), Personal Station Access (PSA) and Customer Telephone Activation (CTA).

Terminal Translation Initialization
TTI is a feature of Avaya MultiVantage Software that allows administrators to merge an x-ported station to
a valid port. From a telephone connected to that port, the administrator dials a TTI merge feature access
code, a system-wide security code, and the x-port extension. TTI also enables administrators to separate an
extension from its port by dialing a similar digit sequence. This action causes the station to revert to an
x-port. TTI can be used for implementing telephone and data module moves from office to office. That is,
you can separate a telephone from its port with TTI, unplug the telephone from the jack, plug the
telephone in a jack in a different office, and merge the telephone to its new port with TTI.

Customer Telephone Activation (CTA) is a feature based on the TTI feature and allows the customer to
associate a physical phone with a station translations switch. CTA is a streamlined version of TTI. It has a
fixed feature-access code but does not require a security code. It applies only to DCP and analog phones.

Personal Station Access (PSA) is a feature that allows the end user to associate the preferences and
permissions assigned to the extension with any other compatible phone.

Hope this helps
