Hello members ,

We would like to upgrade our Oracle Database from 9i release 2 to 10g release 2.

I have been told that Livelink 9.2 does not support 10g.

Are there any Livelink issues we can look forward to if we were to use 10g and fore go support?

Thanks

ask for specific assistance from Ot support. While I don't think that there will be issues the newer livelink does make use of clob as against longs in the old livelink so they will probably be faster. Some of the sql itself has been refined in newer versions so that is more the reason why you should consider upgrading

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Sorry group ,

We hope to upgrade from 9.2 to 9.7 next year , but in the meantime , we had wanted to upgrade our Oracle Database , to take care of another application which has to run 10g.

But according to our LiveLink developers , Livelink 9.2 on 10g is not supported.

While we do not see why there should be issues , since firstly 10g maintains backward compatibility to 9i , we feel we should exploit all avenues , just in case.

can you advise here ?

if you can't upgrade immediately then I would recommend that you create a test system and upgrade that to test the impact of the change.

You can upgrade your Oracle db, but keep the v9.2 client with LL9.2. This will work fine.

You can do a database upgrade from 10g with livelink 9.2 it will work fine. We have successfully done the upgrade and things are working fine for the past 8 months.
