I'm staying in a hotel, supporting a switch on a short term contract and I can't get a connection to my switch modem while I'm off site. I am able to connect via a modem when I tested the connection on site and everything worked fine. Here at the hotel, I have tried 3 different modems and its just not working. When I dial, the switch modem answers and starts to talk, I can hear my laptop modem start to talk but it gets stuck on the first tone, like it's not hearing the switch modem. The switch modem continues trying to talk to the laptop modem and then not getting an answer disconnects. All my settings for hyperterm and procomm are the same as in my on-site tests and I dont have another land line I can use to test with. The only thing I can come up with is that the modem line is somehow being blocked by the hotels switch or their trunks. Does anyone else have any ideas?
